We are usually dealing with a single version of a myth compiled by some historical figure, like Hesiod for Greek mythology or Snorri Sturluson for Norse or Henry Longfellow for whatever Indians he was inspired by, or Thomas Malory for Beitish Matter. Fairies are kind of catch-all and have meant different things to different people(s) at different times. Wild hunt has also been appropriated by different ethnicities, each describing it a little different. |
