Hit the bench press for the first time since 31DEC2022.

135x5
185x10
195x10
205x6

Two sets of close grip pullups slowly letting myself down from the top.  5 reps each.

Curb weight as if this morning was 184.5 pounds.

I'm shooting for 265 by year's end on the bench.

Back on the bench today.  Got a bit under the weather, bought a car, did some remodel work at the house and turned 44 between the last post and today.

Starting with 135 warmup at 1405.  5 reps with a pause at the top and bottom.

1406.  Hammer curls.  45 lbs each hand.  10 reps each side.

1412.  Bench.  185.  5 reps.  Pause at bottom only.

1415.  Hammer curls.  50 lbs each hand.  10 reps.

1418.  Bench.  205 lbs.  5 reps.  No pause.

1421.  Hammer curls.  55 lbs each hand.  10 reps per side.

1435.  Bench.  215 lbs.  5 reps.

1438.  Hammer curls.  60 lbs each hand.  10 reps each side.

1458.  Bench.  225 lbs.  5 reps.

By this metric, I am almost at my goal for this year.

I think I want 235x5 by year's end.

Just a note.

I try to update every day. I "count" my pushups by sliding chessmen from one side of the bottom shelf of my coffee table to the other. Started by counting each chessman as 10. Slide all 32 over in a day? 320 pushups for the day.

Then, they counted as 20. Then 30... 40.

I am doing 50 pushups at a time now. I make my last set 40, to maintain the "240".  I'm 48. This is the first time in my life I can do 50 pushups in a row, well, with good form.  I'm so glad I found this thread, and stuck with it.

50,945 at the end of August!

Butterflies started at 205lbs and went to 235.

5 sets of 10.  205, 220, 225, 230, and 235.

Finally got to a squat rack tonight, and after what I estimate to be at least 17 years, I did some squats with a barbell across my shoulders.

To say I'm better at upper body workouts would be an understatement.

45, 95, and 115.  10 reps each.

Got some back exercises done tonight at the gym.

5 sets of 20 lower back extensions with a 10lb plate held to my chest.

After that, I did 5 sets of rows with a 50lb dumbbell in each hand.  10 reps per side.

These workout changes have managed to add roughly 8lbs to me, and I'm typically hitting the scale in the A.M. at around 192.

I ate 4000 calories today.

"Warmed" up with a sled today.

Our floor is about 80' long but I ran the sled completely over the goal line twice at warmup.

I imagine it is about 6' long so actual distance traveled was 72' or so.

Twice down and twice back.

Kettlebell exercises followed.

Swinging the 25lb KB, releasing in mid air and catching with the opposite hand.

20 reps first set.  0:36.  2014.
20 reps second set.  0:35.  2017.
20 reps third set.  0:34.  2020.

I've hit the incline bench twice this week without updates.

Monday the 6th had me pushing the sled 840 feet, and doing a 5x5 on the bench with 135, 145, 165, 175, and 185.

I proceeded to go over to my gym's 2nd location in town and do a 5x7 workout that evening.  135, 145, 155, 165, 175, 185, and 190.

No sled there as it is a smaller footprint, but I plan on adding 1/2 a "field" length to my warmups each week.

Saturday was a decent workout, with 700ft on the sled, followed by 5 reps on the flat bench at 135, 185, 205, 225, and 3 reps at 235.

Forgot to update from a couple days ago.

Started my workout with a 1 mile walk on the track at the gym.  I proceeded to do a sled push for 280 feet and then get to preacher curls.

5 sets of 10 starting with 45lbs.  Sets of 50-60-70-80lbs followed.

Bench press was good, with a set of 5 at 135, 12 at 185, and 10 at 195.

We'll see by year's end if 200-205x10 is in reach.

After that, I went back on the running track and alternated walk/run/walk/run for 8 laps which is 1 mile.

I made it back into the gym Thursday evening.

I seem to be hitting the running track more often.

A quick warmup pushing the sled 280' and then one warmup lap before running 1.5 miles in about 14 minutes.

2 more walking laps and then a final 1/8th mile lap as fast as I could reasonably go with other walkers on the track.

That finished 2 miles in around 19:40.
