I was looking north watching the ducks landing in the lake but kept hearing the lightning on the radio, turned around to the south and giant rain cloud. Raining now.

Good conditions for me this evening. S5 noise and heard most of you S9 or better. I think I may have a coax issue. I disconnected it on the antenna end when I was running the electric out to the new shack/shop building. I didn't have any coax seal, and I may have water in the connector. We had over an inch of rain a few days ago. I'll clean it out, dry it out and reseal it.

Thanks for the reports on the portable tonight. I was using my Icom 7300 and THIS antenna with the 40-10 stealth wire. If I ordered it again I think Id get the silicon wire for more tangle resistance.

Out of the box it tunes 10m at 1.2-1.5swr
15m at 1.1
20m at 1.0
40m at 2.0

I forgot to mention during the comments, the GO# @$%^ MOSQUITOES are out already! It took a few minutes to figure out why I was so itchy!LOL

+1........100% on the less memory silicone wire for 22awg.

I bought some inexpensive vinyl clad in bright green and some silicone, both 22 awg.  The PVC clad copper is kinky, and not the leasurable kind.   The black silicone gives up the bright color choice but it winds up so much nicer.

@GreenDragon let's just stay on 15m until it improves, it should continue to get better. I don't know how to check messages yet...

I have about half a dozen completed RXs from you on 15m. Viable path for sure.

In callsigns heard box on right side. Right click my call and clickShow Message Inbox. That will be for a msg from me sitting in your box.

Same location and my call, click Directed to (my call), box pops up, click Query MSGS.  it will give you a Yes, and a number.

Same thing,  QUERY MSG[ID].  Enter that number to get the msg waiting in my box for you

ETA: sugnal wasn't great when I sent msg to your box, it might not be there. It's still not the best now.

ooff, my noise floor is S9 on 15m. Much better on 12m if you don't mind switching?

I'll run a quick WSPR test on 12m at low power. Report back here in about 10 minutes.

What is the importance of matching offset in JS8 and how do you manage that in a group chat?
Link Posted: 3/14/2024 4:49:27 PM EDT
[#35]
I only match offset if I'm in a one to one QSO. It takes up less space, with the assumption that only one is talking at a time. In a group setting, i don't  see it as workable. I try to do tuning and HBs below 1000, though I still HB where i sit.

I'm  as amateur as it comes to radio, so anything i say is suspect.

I'm not getting anything on 12m. I can wait here until band improves this far north or we can try 17m?

I'm sending a SNR request to ARFCOM every couple minutes.

I've got red cells about 10 miles away and moving in. A narrow line is following. Not nearly as bad as this morning. Have fun, I'm outta here.

They were in the yellow box. Just gray instead of red. It seemed to have fixed itself. I should have took a screenshot.

Does "....." mean message error or incomplete message?
