What do you guys and gals think?
4 seasons, 4 shoots.
April, July, October, Jan I think the real question is Brown's Camp or Memaloose? I'm thinking Memaloose now. |
Agreed. Not including a possible mini Knob creek that we would like to have as well. I spoke to another member, PromptCrit??? about a friend that had some private land and wanted to do the same. I think now is the time to start talking about it and organizing the event. I think a two-three day event. Arrive on friday/friday evening, hang out by the fires, and then wake up and have at it all day sat... and pull out sunday. Ideas...thoughts....suggestions? The sooner the better guys as summer is busy for every one! CH |
We can get a car in & out of Memaloose very easy! Hint
I liked the location & company! |
Memaloose was nice but how about alternating and having the next shoot at browns camp for us west siders.

Hmm.....is this a pity the LD drivers post??? You guys got nothing to complain about |
How about a few more on the east side to make for ALWAYS HAVING THEM ON THE WESTSIDE |
Well, north, south, east or west, don't matter, I'll be there.
I do really like the thought of a weekend event, I'd be all for that if we found the right spot! |
The bad thing about Browns Camp is on Sunday afternoon you can get caught in the returning from the coast traffic and that can add one or two hours to the drive. Never again. Browns Camp and Sunday do not mix!
The Memaloose drive back can be messed up if there is an accident on 205, but you have many alternate routes to divert too, unlike the Browns Camp hwy 26 which leaves you no alternate routes. I also tested my cell phone at Memaloose and it worked! That’s a huge plus. The only downside to Memaloose is the 100 yard maximum range. |

+1 on the weekend event. Could be our very own Gunstock-like event...we seem to have enough cool vendors in OR to make it extra special.
Also, I spoke to petagunner briefly about another idea: a group OR AR15.com pit/shooting area cleanup. It seems more & more of these open public places are being put off limits to shooting, usually because of a very small minority who leaves trash, act like goons, etc. Soooo...what if we combine one of these shoots with a group cleanup effort? I'm thinking a bit more thorough than what we did Saturday (though that was good too), pick up the old TVs etc that previous shooters have left. I'm thinking also that we contact the Rangers or whoever oversees the use of the land and really publicize the heck out of our cleanup efforts...maybe coordinate it with them? Also contact local papers, they usually have space to report on "do gooder" projects. Basically the idea is to build rapport with the people in charge & with the public to keep the pits open to us. And give us gun nuts some positive press for once. Would anyone be interested in helping out? |
Great Idea WS4LIF! I really liked the Memaloose location, I thought it was much better than Brown's and had a lot more firing line room than did Brown's plus it was much easier to get home from Memaloose than Browns cause I didn't have to fight with the stupid Portland Hwy 26 traffic. Cape, I like the idea of a mini-Knob Creek shoot. Maybe we could even talk the Washington guys into coming down to join us. |
I'll talk to my pal about the "mini-Knob Creek" shoot. Don't want to say too much 'cause it's his deal. I'll see...
I really like this idea.. it would let us get some good local press.. and at night (I think i read this as a camping sort of thing) we can in general have a good time... but the main thing would be the positive press it would bring to shooters as a whole.. Jess |

I think anyone who starts a poll should only use 4 choices since 5 choices always has screwed up math. |

What I know about shoot so far:
My buddy is a C3 dealer in eastern Oregon. He is currently working on the website and flyer. He will send me more info later this week. The shoot is planned to be similar to Knob Creek. With line spots and so forth. It will be in Joseph, OR in the far Northeast corner of the state. Tentatively planned for the weekend of June 17th. That's what I know so far. Will post more updates and I will start an official thread if he doesn't... |
I say any sunday. Browns camp will only be viable if that gravel pile in front of the firing line goes away.
HOLY FRIGGIN LONG WAYS AWAY BATMAN! Crap, that takes me like 10 hours to get that far away! |
Oh, But in Joseph! |
This would be a great idea get the local media involved and show them that people that have and enjoy shooting military style weapons are not the crazed take over the world crazies that we' re made out to be. |
We should try to get Lars Larsen out to one of these. |
I think the press needs to stay away.
There is going to be a story on Class 3 Machine guns in this weeks paper. |
Yeah my purpose is more to clean up a pit area to show the community & Forest Svc that we're good citizens and they should leave the public spots open. I'm not sure the Knob Creek-like shoot in Joseph (or wherever) is the venue for that.
But I'd still like to do a cleanup day. When the next shoot (not the Joseph/Knob Creek one) gets closer I'll bring this up again...unless I get get some volunteers to come with me on a non-shoot weekend... |
What the hell for? Ginny Burdick got something up her sleeve? Scare the living shit outa the babies in Portland, then introduce some bullshit legislation? SOP for that whore... |
Concerning the public and press, I say no way. The average Portland liberal would go ballistic
if they saw the sheer firepower at one of our shoots. Portland TV would portray us as a bunch of right-wing fanatics ready to assualt Salem. The MG & Suppressors are under the radar now. Why not keep it that way? I seem to remember an Arizona AR15.com shoot where a German TV crew showed up and even after PR by several members portrayed the shooters as Malvos & Muhammads in training. The local press will never be our friends. They are Socialist bastards and will not change. My $0.02 worth, Spambo |
But aren't we? Still I agree. No press. If we want to toot our own horn, we can message some of the forestry service guys to say we cleaned up their area for them. |
You're absolutely, GD right. |
Now that's a damn good idea: Get some publicity for a cleanup. We all go up there, and pick up all the junk, and litter. Get the newscrew to get some footage of us being real nice and "eco-friendly", then, just as they leave, have NoHair open up with the belt-fed at a 10 lb Tannerite charge. |

I agree. I stayed with friends in Hillsboro this week end. The wife was raised in Hermiston, the man in Saudi Arabia. He is an avid hunter. They both make stupid idiotic comments about my AR15. They have no idea what it is and just sound plan foolish. The wife told a story to one guy that we were driving [she and I] and I jumped out of my pickup and shot my AKC 47 at a coyote. I laughed at her and asked her if my 47 was in the "Non Sporting Group?" People are idiots. Egads remember those idiots sitting behind us at Burdick's town hall? Lets give them fuel for their fire. NOT! |
The look on their faces when he did that would be worth the price of admission on that day. |

After seeing video from the last one, I'm convinced I need to do what I can to make it to the next
What you just said is what MANY have said... People ! Don't Wait to be Conviced.. JUST GO!.. and then you would not have missed a Fun Filled Day.. Make it a point to be there.. It's like the Super Bowl of Shooting fun. Especially the warmer days of shooting when the day lasts longer.. OoooooOOoOooooOh can't wait. |
Biggest issue for me is finding time to shoot in between midterms and homework. OSU student Sadly school comes before blowing crap up and that's one prevented me from the last one. That and a 2WD Honda Accord... |
