Not me, I park over at the Cobb Deck. Down for coffee or lunch and gun chat, too.

Almost enough to start up an insurgency right in the heart of liberalville.

Dang, that's three so far.
Definitely bordering on a militia.

Hope to catch up with you both.

Hey, I'm a long time lurker, low post count (forgot my password) guy living in CH for school. There are more than a few of us around!
Link Posted: 4/15/2017 11:31:58 AM EST
Where were all of you when I was a student? I couldn't find any gun people there when I attended

*Redacted my school too because it was an incredibly small graduating class, internet opsec.

I'm an undergrad. There's actually a Tar Heel Rifle and Pistol Club that does a good job of providing firearms education and range time for beginning/intermediate shooters, a Ducks Unlimited club, and several conservative organizations that are pro-2A.

Haha I reached out to the Tar Heel Rifle and Pistol club a few times when I was there, never got an answer. I guess I wasn't cool enough

I'm in the med school.

I need to catch up with Slacker and some of the others. Just haven't had the time/opportunity yet.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 11:17:44 AM EST
We should plan a range day.
UNC Arfcom meet N shoot.
I can host.
I have access to a mess of NFA stuff.
We could setup a small Uspsa or 2 gun match for grins.
Have some BBQ and shoot the breeze.

Location is about 5 mins from Caswell Ranch.

Post up if your interested.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 1:26:07 PM EST
I'd be interested (will also bring my NFA goodies), but probably can't make a trip out that way until later this summer... work and a newborn baby taking up all my time right now.

I'm down. I'll be able to do something in or after June when I get back to CH for rotations.

I will also bring a few NFA items.
Link Posted: 4/17/2017 8:38:40 PM EST
I have no idea where Caswell Ranch is.

Alas, no NFA goodies.

Agreed. They come off as an odd club.
No involvement that i have seen in the local shooting matches.
Private page on social media.
I have a feeling they focus more on firearm safety than
use. Too bad, the local gun clubs would welcome them with open arms.

Yeah, I found it to be strange.

May doesn't work for me for a range day, but don't base it off of my schedule alone.

Any interest in letting Apex'ians join in?
I worked in Chapel Hill for over 5 years until about 6 months ago

Unfortunately I'm traveling that weekend but I'm sure it will be hard to find a time that works for everyone.

Can out of state UNC CH grads also stop by?? I travel to Cary several times a year.

I'm new to the Chapell Hill area; NCSU grad. I'd be interested in some hometown meet ups.

So, when are we doing this thing?!?!?!

A few things need to happen first. We need to decide on a location and figure out whether it will be an informal meet and greet or if someone has property or is a member of a range that wouldn't mind us having a range day. I'm fine with either. I think meeting at a large public range like Triangle Shooting Academy would be the easiest although I much prefer shooting outdoors. If you guys just want to grab lunch that's cool too. As far as when we need to set a date.
Link Posted: 6/1/2017 12:22:25 PM EST
As I said earlier in the thread, I can host.
The shooting portion would consist of a USPSA style
Match for Pistol & PCC and/or a steel match with Centerfire
And rimfire divisions.

Nfa shoot after the fun matches if there is interest.

I'll throw out 3rd Saturday in Sept as a potential date.

If someone wants to BBQ, that's cool with me.
Rustic accommodations, outhouse, no running water.
Not really female or young kid friendly (according to my wife.)
Limited cell service. Verizon works best.

I can host 8-10 folks maximum.
Not comfortable with more than that.
Certainly open to other venues, so let's hear any ideas.
Link Posted: 6/1/2017 5:51:48 PM EST
I don't shoot competition, but would certainly try. I'm in and can bring an MG for the after party
Link Posted: 6/1/2017 7:49:27 PM EST
Slacker thanks for offering to host. I'd definitely be down for a uspsa style set up. I can bring some nfa as well, although I am not on the MG level yet. My work schedule isn't set for September yet so I could try to request that day off. Honestly I doubt any date will accommodate everyone so I think it's best we just go with a date / time that is most convenient for Slacker and go ahead and set it in stone. I'm excited to finally get involved with the hometown forum now that I've had a chance to settle down.
