well im voting for 6". since it looked like one of your options.
I also think it would be cool to cut and thread right in front of the scope mount. |
I have one of those floating around somewhere.
Maybe have to dig it up and play with it. CH |
What about that poor Enfield that's languishing in your shop?
I want to learn from your |

I'm thinking the shortest one there, the vertical photo. Basically butt the can up to the upper rail. Then make/modify an AK forward stock (with Picatiny rails) that covers the barrel and some/most of the can if possible. That would look pretty sweet. Just doesn't look right without a forward stock.
ETA: the shorter length will keep most cheap/bulk ammo subsonic as well. |
Just got the barrel back last night for that, threaded 5/8"x24 for my SRT can, and called Doug this morning, but he is probably at Knob Creek . . . . Will post pictures once I get the barrel on the receiver, maybe this afternoon. |
So I am leaning toward the 9" version, what would be 14" with a 6" can . . .
Setting up the Pac Timer/Chrono to do the 16" barrel with 3-4 diff ammos before cutting . . . . . |
Rumor has it that a PPS50 sear will drop into an Ar7. |
4.5"
That way most everything is subsonic. And that it tucks into the front of a man's pants easier. |
You mean you dont have a pile of 25 rounders for that thing? |
That is one butt-ugly gun!
I had one, years ago. I sold it to my brother-in-law, and my nephew has it now. It has a wonderful *rolling eyes* triggerpull! One thing though, and I'm sure that you are aware of this....hypersonic rounds only tend to go hypersonic out of about 6" barrels.....I think that I would consider a 4 or 5 inch barrel....that way you can save on the price of sub-sonics! |
4.5" works well for ya does it? |
Cool. I'm still filling stuff to make everything fit on mine. Sorry to hijack your thread -- why not go 4" on your AR7. That sounds good to me. |

That looks pretty cool, where does the flare launcher go?
ETA: Damnit! Post 762! Now you have to make one in .308 |

Ha, someone on the site that DOESN'T know who Ho-Hair is???? OR WHY????? |
I'd never thought I'd be telling Pat that the barrel is too long.
I like #1 It just fits. Besides, to help eliminate jamming, you WANT to use full power ammo. To keep full power ammo subsonic you really need 5" or under. |
hahahahaha Now show them the MOVIE right arter that shot was taken when the EoTech falls off...... |
You can always go shorter |
is that exact? If so gimme more details!!!! Im killin myself over this! |

So my PAC-timer/Chrono must have got wet last night so I couldn't get the 9" results.
But do have the 16" results with 4 different ammos. Looks like it is clear out right now, will try to get the 9" reading now, but will probably cut it back to 7". I also have a 10-22 barrel at I think 5"-6" I can try ..... P.S. The 9" 45acp Enfield looks soooo coool.! |
Oh sure, rub it in. But have you gotten it to work yet?! LOL |
I like the looks at 12" w/can. Either way, make that stock not wobble.

NoHair in his true form. Eotech falls off the gun, looks down to see what fell, keeps on shooting. (You know it's against 'the code' to stop shooting for any reason when there are still bullets in the belt!) |

So it looks like you had to grind away material for the magazine catch to work. I started doing that on mine. All my parts are with Mike at Tornado Technologies. He said he got to play with an honest-to-goodness-Delisle and that it had a complex ejector. He knows a guy who knows a guy who has copies of original Delisle blueprints. So, how does it extract? Did you have to grind on your magazine adapter? I suddenly feel like driving out to Vernonia! |
So did you ever get the chrono dried out and working? When you do could you post the results here or on your site? Also, do you have anything for testing dBs? I know I could probably search the web but if you were interested in doing some hometown local testing I'd be willing to find some various ammo to donate to the cause. I'm sure others would be willing to pitch in also. |
