CalGuns banned me this morning.  I joined yesterday because there was a guy who had a nice P7 M8 for sale.  Then I got to thinking, I am trying to sell my PC, so I put it in the proper place and put the ad up.  Admin informs me in a nice way read the froum rules you broke 2 of them right off the top of my head.  So I go and inspect the rules closer and it says I have to make 25 posts before I can place an ad and also a location.  Alright stupid me on the location but anyways, I PM the guy saying hey making 25 posts doesnt make me or anyone a trustworthy person that I can have 25 good posts and a donation in a half hour.  I even said that I wasnt trying to be a jerk.
Well, ok thats one donation they wont be getting.
Edit:  By the way it says "the ban will be lifted-NEVER!!!"

Dude.

Calguns is a good place. They have rules for a reason.

A lifetime ban for one incorrect post?  I've seen worse on that website and those people are still around.

These rules are on Calguns because of spam problems, and to let existing members get a feel for a new member.

There's a chance that within 25 posts you can detect some measure of idiocy or incompetence, and certainly if someone's a spammer.  There have been issues too with people posting blatantly illegal things, possibly for entrapment purposes.

Well, I dont agree with the 25 posts thing just because I have seen and i know people who you think are honest but really arent and we all have been burned by them.   Anyone can play nice untill they get what they want.  I made a post with good intentions, not to stiff anyone.   I didnt go to the public forums and say they are stupid or anything like that.  I just told the guy I could make 25 good posts in a half an hour and make a donation and that doesnt make me a trustworthy person.
I just got done writing an email to CalGuns pointing out that their knee-jerk reactions reminded me of some of the gun laws that were passed.   For an example, I posted in the urban commandos section the same thing but I did a cut and paste and the price included.  My mistake but the admin here just edited it out and no big deal.

Well then Bradyite trolls and spammers take over the forums.

We have had a few posts wanting to sell movies, cellphones, etc.

Ugh...

Dude, it weeds out a significant portion of the spambots and script kiddies.  That's good enough for me.

If you had read the forum rules, you wouldn't be in the 'predicament'.

GunlessnSoCal,

Hmm, lets see, you went to Cal guns, you didn't read the rules offered to you when you joined, you violate the rules and get banned, then, you come over HERE to run your mouth, trash Cal guns and be arrogant about it..

I'm betting you won't last long here either with THAT attitude.

Just a lil FYI, I am a Calguns member, personally I love that site. Play by the rules or don't play at all, how difficult is that to understand?

Hmm,
Well on my forum I have it set to where when you register for an account you have to be approved first by me to go active. No one can simply register there and then go onto the forums and start posting.I can usually tell a spammer from a mile away by looking at ther profile and seeing there spam blog e-mails on there.I simply deny them access into the forums.
That sucks that you got banned from Calguns but its really the same old questions being asked over and over.Lots of kiddies over there too....

Nor does posting over here really help.

My initial reaction when you said you were banned from Calguns was that I could help find out why and assist with fixing the problem, but you're going about it the wrong way and have changed my mind.

ETA: There is no proper forum to put stuff like computers, yet. The sale forums are for: 1. firearms, 2. Non-firearm firearm-related accessories (and sometimes knives)

I think this Gunless guy is a DOJ plant trying to divide us into two smaller communities.

Whoops! I must've forgotten to take the tinfoil off before leaving Calguns.....

Seriously though, if it would take so little effort to get those posts, then why not do it, have your item up for sale responsibly, and be on your way, if not already there, to selling it instead of coming here and preaching to the WRONG choir and hoping someone will back you up. It's like going to the Sheriff and complaining about the CHP for giving you a speeding ticket.

Like Paul said, there is a WORLD of information over on Calguns and a good majority of the stuff that is delved deeply into over there doesn't even get hinted at over here. Arf still has it's place and Calguns has it's own, but honestly, since the OLL thing and the For Sale forums coming back up, Calguns really can't be beat when it comes to a strictly California based gun forum.

And just a little FYI, even you said you put it and they deleted it and politely explained what happened, you responded back, then you were banned the next day. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize you probably did the wrong thing in the wrong way, and crying about it here only reaffirms thats in my mind.

How many people sign up on your forum a day?

Someone has to sort through all of the applications and approve / deny them.

That is work.

This is supposed to be relaxation and fun for a lot of people (particularly the moderators).

It is easer, and more reasonable to put the onus of compliance upon any new poster than to require the moderators to sift through mountains of applications.

Before I respond to anything I must first respond to this quote.  Everyt Sheriff, every PD officer I have ever talked to or worked with hate the CHP, I beleive the reference was AAA with guns.   The only time they liked working with CHP is when there is a major accident on a highway, because they do all the paperwork.  Anyway, they would all listen and understand and agree the ticket was BS.
Ok now to CalGuns, I wrote the admin and explained what happend.  I got an email back explaining that they were getting a lot of spammers from Europe trying to run scams.
Well my email is questionable as far as the name.  I explained that the email I use for forums or to sell things was exactly the same reason they banned me.  I had Euros trying to pull the Ill send you 14000.00 for your bike that you are selling for 3 k.  So I am no longer banned.
I forget who said it but yea I could have made 25 posts in 30 minutes, and worked the system but I am not that guy.

OMG worse, Are you telling me your one of those "War on Drugs" guys?  If I were to complain to a FBI agent about a DEA bust, they would be like, yea where do you think they get all there intel?  Dont say anything about the CIA because they hate the DEA too.  They had such a good op going on in Vietnam but noo the DEA ruined it.

Alright now Im just busten your ballz.  Everything is done and taken care of, we all can argue all day about the rights and wrongs of posting on forums and the rules that placed.  Can we now talk about the couple of gaming servers I was banned out of because they thought I hacked?

I was also banned. A moderator who shall remain nameless kept butting in on a discussion I was involved in, rebutting every post I made and included several personal demeaning remarks. I proceeded to tell him what I thought, and got banned.

No regrets. I post on all of the firearm related boards and have never had a problem.

I'm not bashing Calguns, but they seem to all follow a few posters like little ducks, and if you don't agree you are wrong. Too many booger eating keyboard commandos over there, not my kind of crowd.

That being said, they have alot of good info/posters, but the "few" overshadow the good ones.

Why are you coming on to ARF to complain about what happened on another gun forum?

What you should have done is apologized to the admin and repented your sins.  You broke the rules.  Simple.  Easy.

Maybe you're one of those fellows that can't follow directions.  Too bad, because Calguns is the best thing for California gun owners since sliced bread.  You know that too, or you wouldn't whine about your banning on this forum.

Actually, although I am not a 'dedicated full time' member there like I am here, I do have to say that Calguns has some very enlightening stuff there. I learned a lot about CA gun laws there and they definitely have their place.

Like most boards, they have pros and cons... Nothing wrong with that.

If it suits your needs great. If not, no reason too bash them. As I said earlier, Its their 'house', Their rules.

Now if you ever saw ARFCOM from how it was back in 1999 vs now, there are HUGE differences... Boards change over time so, I wouldn't go so far to knock them for what may annoy you now about them may not even be an issue 6 months from now.

No Frige, you're wrong. Calguns is excellent and anyone that says otherwise doesn't know what they are talking about.

You can pick through their good info without being a member.

Seems that most of them have the San Fran/LA attitude. I've made several comments regarding christianity which was immeadiatly ridiculed. These people are not the type of grassroots, God fearing, freedom loving Americans I want to associate with. Most of these people's views are very left wing, with exception of firearms. My far right views are not welcome there.

As one of the mods over at calguns I have to try my best to stay openminded and hold my tongue unless its against the rules.  The board grew fast last year and they had to come up with a set of rules to keep the board from looking like something other than a place to find out how to stay out of trouble as a gunh owner in California and help fight against anti-gun laws in he state.

Other than that you pretty much make the board what it is to you...I mean if you are looking for something other than those things there areother boards that are better but I have kinda madethe place my main forum although I saw this website fight against the AWB and they suree did a great job.

I am not a post whore, and I only say what I think needs to be said. Like I said before, Calguns is a great place, with some great posters (bweise, artherd, etc.) but the recent clutter is not for me.

If you posted religion related commentary where it would be off-topic, (like just about anyplace other than a general discussion forum) I'm not all that surprised.  To be frank if people want to talk guns they go to gun forums, they want to talk trains, they go to railfan forums, and religion, to religion forums.  Some places aren't terribly tolerant of off-topic or tangential posts.

Just as a note, I've never seen anything close to a serious religious post on any of the Rail fan forums I visit on a regular basis.

It's fact, just because you don't wish to discuss it doesn't make it not so: Most of Calguns members are religious, highly conservative, and gun owners - not fudds, but those who enjoy the EBR, C&R, handguns, and huntilg style arms.

It's just very surprising to see someone complain about Calguns being Liberally leaning, since most complaints are the opposite... Waaaay the opposite.

I actually used the term "God fearing" to describe conservative gun owners, and was met with a load of posts stating that they don't want to be associated with God. It was not a religous post that I made, just an expression.
