As a neighbor to the north what do I need to do to be compliant when bringing a handgun into Cali?  Does it need to be locked up in a box in the trunk away from the ammo? I apologize for the previous post as I didnt realize the room moderator doesnt appreciate a sense of humor when  making fun of the excessive restrictions of the California system.  I just wanna know what I need to do to not become a criminal when I cross that political boundary to the south on the Redwoods HWY199 to see the ocean? Also, can a person carry a handgun in their backpack or on their hip when out in the national forests for a backpacking trip in Cali?  We are considering a hike in the Marble Mts as we missed that area in 2006 on our 2,650 mile Mexico-Canada long distance hike of the Pacific Crest trail due to wildfires.  thanks

Paul, I cannot thank you for attempting to answer my simple questions given you take great pride in making a spectacle of a simple wonder. Really, sincerely, what is the purpose of this room in which you seem to take great reservations in defending as though theres an attack without question? I apologize that you are deeply angered in which you live in a state that does not allow you the basic rights most other states view apparent in granting reflection of our federal constitution.  Nevertheless, dont give up my friend.  There is hope for your pride and the political boundary you reside.

It gets old loamy, really old.  It's not so much an excess of pride that leads to defensiveness as it is being tired of hearing the same old shit day after day every time the letters C and A manage to make it together in any post about any subject.

I'm not speaking for Paul BTW, just myself.

Also, your writing sounds like a freestyle/rap/spoken word/performance piece of social commentary run through a translator of some kind.  It's not a personal dig, it's just a really strange style and choice of words.  I read it 5 times lol.

a- transport firearms unloaded. people without CCW can not carry or transport handguns concealed from view. if concealed from view they must be inside a locked case.  the glove box or center console box is not a locked case. if not in a locked case the handgun must be in plain view. ammo can not be attached to or loaded inside the firearm.  attached to means a magazine inside the firearm, loaded means in the chamber.

b- AR15.com has a strict policy on joking about committing crimes...dont believe me, go start a post in the Oregon HTF like "hey lets say I want to rob a bank to pay my bills...how can I safely do this?"...see what happens.  Thats exactly what you did in your locked post with CA CCW laws.

c- see "a".  carry firearms unloaded, in plain view or unloaded in locked cases.  Call the Ranger Station in charge of the area for all other information.

thanks for the bit of help CWDrag.  I must say though comparing a bank robbery plot to a usual legal right most Americans have in the majority of the sane states is a bit off.  I apologize for not knowing how sensitive folks in the rabid "blue states" can be when it comes to a constitutional issue most of America takes for granted.  Isnt it weird though the states with the most crime ( CAli, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, Jersey etc.) often infringe on your rights to protect yourself? Sorry you live in an aweful state that is morally & financially bankrupt.

Let me guess. You're about 5' 6", 120 lbs, and you feel you have to carry a gun to keep the big kids from picking on you? Since it's such an awful State, please, feel free to stay away.

Dude, why the diatribe? It's all relative. Would you like me to launch into a tirade on how rediculous some of Oregon's gun laws are? Your state won't issue nonresident CCWs either. And what's up with your state that it can't build a road to the ocean?

You come waltzing into these people's living room and promptly insult them. Besides being just stupid, (insulting someone who has what you need) It's rude.

And don't ask some stranger over the internet for information on how to break the law; That could be construed as conspiracy for starters.

windyknut, its easy to say for you when you live in a free enough state that allows you to protect yourself & family without begging the state for permission. Sure, Oregon does suck in many ways mostly because of Californians bring their ways  of corruption and perversion up here to Oregon. Oregon use to be a very desirable state for sensible people, now its become a loony extension of California.

Honestly, I was kind of  leaning to your side (in this post not the last post which got locked). I figured a simple answer could possibily settle a simple question. It's already stapled to the CA HTF as stated above, but whatever... I figured someone could still help....
BUT now all I see is the two highlighted statments.

Your first highlighted statement here about California being a "rabid blue state" is irrelevant, the first few responses to this post and the last are in regards to ar15.com policy. Has nothing to do with this particular State HTF.
The second highlighted statement pretty much breaches the CoC for this HTF as well. However that's not an issue of concern for me, the issue of concern for me is that this comment is coming from an Oregon resident.

As far as I'm concerned, neither Oregon nor Washington, has any room to criticize California. Just my personal feelings regarding personal beliefs....

This is a slightly more accurate....

What does one take pride in being a californian these days?  You have some wonderful land, especially the 200 mile John Muir trail in the High Sierra. I wouldnt be proud of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Henry Nostrilman/Waxman. Please pass your legalized pot law in Nov. so all the degenerates that come up here to Oregon to grow in our mountains can go back to cali. thank you for being who you are collectively as a state

can californians even buy ammo given the new ammo tax for their overly regulated firearms with numerous safties, locks and mandatory low capacity magazines No wonder much of the state is leaving their bankrupt cesspool and flocking north only to corrupt and pervert Oregon.  Please legalize pot so all the dopers of America will descend upon your state with their hands out for more socialism only to topple your state into a true third world. Come on guys, wake up and stop defending your looney state.

thanks for the bit of help CWDrag. NO PROBLEM LOONY I must say though comparing a bank robbery plot to a usual legal right most Americans have in the majority of the sane states is a bit off. ALL TALK OF THE WILLFUL COMMISSION OF A CRIME IS AGAINST THE COC HERE. ILLEGAL CCW OR MURDER CAN BE VIEWED THE SAME. I UNDERSTAND YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHAT ILLEGAL MEANS I apologize for not knowing how sensitive folks in the rabid "blue states" can be when it comes to a constitutional issue most of America takes for granted. WE KNOW WHEN SOME JACKASS GETS ARRESTED FOR VIOLATING A LAW IT MAKES IT HARDER FOR US TO GET THAT LAW REMOVED FROM THE BOOKS...SO YES WE GET UPSET WHEN PEOPLE TALK OF WILLFUL VIOLATION SINCE THAT IS USED TO KEEP THE LAW IN PLACE. Isnt it weird though the states with the most crime ( CAli, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, Jersey etc.) often infringe on your rights to protect yourself? NO. THOSE OF US WITH AN EDUCATION HIGHER THEN MIDDLE SCHOOL UNDERSTAND IT.  I AM SORRY YOU THINK ITS WEIRD.  TO MANY FIREARM OWNERS IN CA ITS A FACT WE ARE USING TO REMOVE THE GUN LAWS.  IF YOU WERE EDUCATED IN CA, YOU MAY UNDERSTAND IT BETTER. Sorry you live in an aweful state that is morally & financially bankrupt.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS. I AM SORRY YOU LIVE IN A STATE WHERE THE AVERAGE IQ IS 50 AND MOST PEOPLE ARE HIPPIE IDIOTS WHO SMELL LIKE LAST WEEKS LAUNDRY.

If you ask nice, maybe someone here will teach you how to use a spell checking program.  Then you can show the other kids in the mobile home park.
