I'm trying to get a gun collection going after "Divorce Recovery".  I was left with one Glock a couple years ago. I only have 2 handguns right now. A 5" SA MilSpec Bi-Tone, and a Glock 17.
With limited funds, I want to choose wisely. I'm thinking of a S&W 686 or 629 revolver. Or another 1911(my favorite handgun). Maybe a Hi Power.
What would YOU add?
Heres a crappy pic of my Recovery Collection so far:

SAR1
SAR1(laminated)
Bushmaster A3 HB
Bushy M4A3 16"
Remington 7600 270Win.
Remy 870 Wingmaster

Looks like you're recovering pretty nicely. Nice collection.

get a 686 or 629 revolver, you already have a semi auto in your Glock and 1911.  Do you like .357/.38 shooting or .44 mag shooting?  Either way you can't go wrong with either.  By the way don't be surprised if you suddenly receive revolver madness..... *Group time*  I used to be a semiautomaticholic.....and then one day I woke up and realized I'm not a cop, Navy SEAL, or even a FBI HRT type of guy.....  But the group be damned if I have to give up my 1911.......

If you want a rounded collection I would probably look for a revolver, you shouldn't start doubling up untill all the bases are covered.  If I were you I would be looking to get a combat shotgun though.

BTW that is a nice collection

You can't go wrong with a SIG. If you want something for CCW that's a little smaller than a Glock 17 or a 1911, I would consider a SIG P229 in .40 SW. I have one and it feels so good in my hands. Craftsmanship is top notch. Ammo is plentiful. Later on if you have an itch for another handgun caliber, all you have to buy is a .357 SIG barrel for your P229. Once you swap out the barrel, you can shoot .357 SIG. No need to buy new mags....it uses same mags as the .40 version.

I used to shoot a 6" 586 in PPC matches. And the last deer I got was with a 6" 629 Classic Hunter(back in '90). I do love revolvers.

1911 or USP.  You can never have too many of either.

Damn, you already have two really nice handguns. You need a Smith and Wesson Revolver, a big one, preferably in .44 or larger.

+1 for a revolver.  Most folks tend to overlook them because they don't have the cool factor of a semi auto, but out of all my guns, my revolver would be the last to go if I were in dire financial straits.  I like a .357 for the flexibility of shooting cheap, low recoil .38 spl loads, all the way up to full power magnum loads.  It would round out your collection pretty nicely.

I'm of the opposite opinion,  I think DA revolvers especially big bores have ALL the coolness factor lacking in the semi-auto.  The semiauto's with exception to the 1911's all have a very plan utilitarian look to them.  They are all so identical looking even those who own them have to take a second look to see what exactly it is that others are shooting.  Revolvers on the other hand besides being distinctive from model to model also have the frightening fact of being able to see those big hollowpoints just peeking out in view from the front of the cylinder......ready to rotate and slip loose.  And not to mention nothings cooler than jacking all 6/7/8 rounds out at the same time on the ground or possibly a perp and saying something cool like , "how you like me now......"

I personally think you should round ou youre collection with a Colt Pyhon or Anaconda, In my opinion they are some of the best revolvers around! Nice collection by the way, SHOOT 'EM 'TILL THEY MELT!

I agree.  Get a Smith & Wesson .357  M19 or 686 or a .44  M29 or  Colt Anaconda.  Another option is a Colt Python.
Any of which will just give you a "woody" when you shoot it!  You just cannot beat a well made magnum revolver in accuracy or fun factor!
I must also agree with a CZ 75. I own two; 1 in  9mm and 1 in .40.     Damn good handguns!!!

Looks good to me... I think you will be happy with either choice.  Stainless is the way to go.

No one is going to defend beautifully blued steel and lovely checkered wooden grips? The horror, the horror! h.
If you really, really like the looks of the 629 classic, might I also suggest the 625?
It is built on the same frame, with a nice matte finish, and shoots the venerable and ubiquitous .45 ACP.
Of course, it uses moon clips, and that might be a no-no for some.
They are generally quite accurate, with low recoil (compared to .44 maggie), and inexpensive ammo is available everywhere.

Gotta put in a good word for the BHP, too.
Sweet shooters, by and large, that generally need just a touch of work (trigger, dehorn, etc.) to make the "perfect" semiauto handgun IMHO.
With ahrends or similarly shaped grips, they fit a large majority of hands very well indeed.
The tang has a tendency to bite some hands, though, which has led to the proliferation of after market custom beavertails. Hammer bite is also a problem for some folks with fleshy or large hands, but can typically cured with a bob-job. Good luck!
