No one is going to defend beautifully blued steel and lovely checkered wooden grips? The horror, the horror!
h.If you really, really like the looks of the 629 classic, might I also suggest the 625?
It is built on the same frame, with a nice matte finish, and shoots the venerable and ubiquitous .45 ACP.
Of course, it uses moon clips, and that might be a no-no for some.
They are generally quite accurate, with low recoil (compared to .44 maggie), and inexpensive ammo is available everywhere.
Gotta put in a good word for the BHP, too.
Sweet shooters, by and large, that generally need just a touch of work (trigger, dehorn, etc.) to make the "perfect" semiauto handgun IMHO.
With ahrends or similarly shaped grips, they fit a large majority of hands very well indeed.
The tang has a tendency to bite some hands, though, which has led to the proliferation of after market custom beavertails. Hammer bite is also a problem for some folks with fleshy or large hands, but can typically cured with a bob-job.
Good luck!
