I have 3 1911s in .45. Auto Ordnance, SA GI Champion, and SA Lightweight Champion Operator. I carry the LW CO occasionally. Was thinking of picking up a G19 for carry and as a "tool" gun. But, I just really like the 1911. And I can buy a bunch of .45 ammo for the price of another gun and then feeding another caliber as well. That part wouldn't be a big deal I don't guess. Even thought of a 1911 in 9mm. Just cause. Think I'll just stay with 1911 for now. Except for Id like to take some handgun courses. Have had a couple and everyone else was using high capacity 9mm. Course I was having to do mag changes twice as much as them and got me kind of behind in some of the drills. Maybe I will get one. Oh hell, I don't know.

Forget the Glock 19 and buy a CZ P-07 instead.

Same size.
Better grip angle,
No stupid finger grooves.
Better Trigger
Can carry either DA/SA or SA with safety, user configurable.

Get the G19. I have a 9mm EMP and can't say enough great things about it, however, a Glock is my CCW.

While a glock 19 is a great choice keep in mind the ergonomics and trigger are very different from a 1911 and often 1911 shooters have trouble adapting to it. Many end up playing and tinkering with the glock to get the trigger to be " more like a 1911" instead of accepting it for what it is and learning to use it as is.

Consider looking at a CZ or a Sig P320, those would probably feel more natural to you.

My biggest problem when I got a Glock 19 was that I had to learn how to aim it specifically.
Any other gun Ive had, Ive been able to bring up and have the sights aligned no problem.  With a Glock, though, I always seemed to have the muzzle lifted too high.

Its something Ive gotten better about with some practice, but I still need more because I still tend to do it now and then.

I generally dont like having to treat one gun so different than others, but I feel like having at least one Glock is a good idea.  The Glock 19 is a great choice too.

As someone with large hands, I hated my G19.  Between the finger grooves and teeny trigger guard, it was just not a good fit for me.  The full sized Glocks worked better but I still had to hog out the trigger guard and put in an aftermarket barrel for my ammo.

compared to a Glock19/23

The P-09/P-07 grip feels very 1911

I started shooting 1911s in high school, m9s in the Marines, back to 1911s, then sigs, then glocks. I currently shoot/ carry a pretty even split between Berettas and glocks.

Over the last 16 years I would have saved a lot of money if I just started with glocks.

I have had many Glocks over the years and sold all of them, as they didn't have the appeal of some other brands. Now that I am a little older and wiser, I bought another Glock. You can't beat the performance or durability right out of the box. Parts are everywhere and mags are cheaper than most other guns out there. They are not pretty, but I can't think of another pistol with as many options available that can compete with a Glock.

Did something similar, but with a combination of 1911's and HK's.  Went to Glock, then dabbled with M&P's, then got wise again and came home.

Couldn't stop at three though....and I agree.....LOSE THE GROOVES.

S3F in all but the G43, which is factory.

Mags for the cz are 50 bucks a pop , glock can be found on sale for 19 . Cz makes a great gunn, but glock is were it's at and yes I have owned both .

Bonus not quite as much as expected. Question is moot for now. Thanks for all the advice. Maybe later or if I come across a super great deal. That is if I don't come across another 1911 I have to have. Partial to the SA Champion guns. Maybe one in 9mm.

Especially with the 43 now. 43 and 19 are pretty much the perfect combo. 34 for gun games. Or 17.

I don't think it's stupid.  It's my favorite gun.  That little bit of rebate on the grip makes a big difference to me.  It's a lot easier to shoot at speed with accuracy than the J frame I was carrying.  And it carries nearly as easily for me.  I had a big hogue grip on the J frame though.

I think inflammatory remarks like that are stupid.  But whatever.  You're entitled to your opinion.    I also think a full sized 1911 doesn't feel any bigger than a G19.    It is heavier though.  That I'll give ya.  Although I only practiced with the G19 around the house.  It was gone by the time our state adopted CCW.  I did carry a 1911 for a bit though and it worked well.  But I do like a smaller grip for an every day carry gun.

I've carried the 1911 and the G19. If I need something smaller than the 19 I've used a Kahr P9.

For me, 11 rounds in the gun and 11 as a reload is a comforting thing.  In a comfortable package.  Another mag goes in my backpack so when I'm out I have 32 rounds ready to go.  I need to get some 19 and 17 mags.

FWIW, I wouldn't mind having a 19 and giving it another go.  But I think I"d almost rather get a 17.  If I'm gonna go bigger, might as well do it properly.  Plus some people seem to prefer the 17 grip over the 19 and I may fall into that category.  Unless maybe I found a gen II.

The problem was the AWB from 94-04 the 26 had 10 rounds and a very compact size pistol.  I personally do not like the pistol because a 19 is perfect for carry but the 26/27/33 are not bad pistols and if you look at kind of why\where they came about it makes sense.  I can also see times the G19 of mine is pretty difficult to carry in certain clothing a sub compact would be slightly better but I honestly just switch to my PPS.

I own a G27 and cannot tell you the last time I carried\shot it, can count on 1 hand how many times it has been carried, and it fit perfectly in my cars center console it just sits there.
