My wife likes to go to these once in a while with friends and she always asks me.  But I refuse to go. I hate them, partly because I don't dance and there are some weirdos in there.   Anyone else dislike them?

I like bars, but not 'dance' clubs.  Perhaps if I was 10 years younger, I'd think differently.

not a fan,  but I bounce for a couple occassionally and I'll tell you what,  the way women dress and act in these clubs today is *light years* different than when I was attending them as a patron.

Almost makes it worth working them for free sometimes.  Last year I bounced Harry O's in Park City for the Sundance Film festival and I spent most of the night oggling hot womenz

I dislike, but will tolerate them for the 'tang.  Generally, there is some top-shelf booty in those type of clubs.  That said, give me a decent bar like the Olympic Club or a seedy Tavern any day.

I've always despised them for a number of reasons:

1) The damned noise. Impossible to have even a shouted conversation with someone.

2) The dancing. I hate dancing. I suck at dancing. Did I mention I hate dancing?

3) The crush. Too many obnoxious assholes all in one place chasing what little unaccompanied tail might be in there.

4) The smoke (well, back in the day). Hard to breath.

5) No woman I'd want to have a meaningful relationship with would be caught dead in one of these places, so WTF am I doing there looking for her?

6) Rediculously expensive.

7) Ringing ears the next morning. See Reason 1.

Don't really like them either. I prefer to preserve my hearing and lungs and spend the cover charge and over-priced drink money on gun stuff.

Much rather drive out in the middle of BFE, drop the tailgate, pop a beer open and stare at the stars and shoot the bull with a few close friends.  Anyday (night!)

Hate them with a passion. The few rare times I've been dragged to one I'd simply find a nice dark corner, camp out, whip out a cigar, order a nice stiff drink, and do my best to enjoy putting out a 'get the fuck away from me you meatbags' vibe.....

Did the club scene in my younger days.  Now I do the gun match and rifle range scene.  Costs less and I don't wake up with a hangover and an unknown woman next to me in bed.

I've only been to night clubs in Europe.  They are very interesting.  It's ALL American music, it's like you are in America except when the DJ comes on inbetween songs and is yelling in Hungarian, and I don't think you'd see a group of about 20 Swiss guys all dressed like cowboys in the states.  But I am not a real big fan of the night club scene.  Mostly because I'm tall and white and therefore have zero dance skills.

Been there, done that, lots of cities (from Orlando to Shreveport to some place in Canadia).

Never really liked it.  I just drank to cope with the social anxiety.

And I do think that I'm a very normal successful guy.

I would only go to one if there was a
live band playing original music.
No cover bands.
I can't stand bands playing songs I've already heard
507,369,081,552 times on the radio, only now,
I have to pay to hear those same shitty songs,
played badly next to asshole drunks who can't
stop screaming FREEEBUUURDD MANNN, FREEBURD!!!

No thanks, I'll pass.

I'm not into them, im the jealous type, so having a bunch of black guys trying to booty dance my girl or a bunch of frat guys with their collars turned up trying to slip her roofies pisses me off

if i was a single man, i might go just to oogle the hot chicks in short skirts but I am not a player or a pimp nor do I drive a bmw or pretend I do so I wouldnt be getting laid anyways.... plus aids sucks

+1 though I skip the cigar & nurse a beer instead of the hard stuff.  Don't drink much at all (a beer once in a while), hate crowds & flat out refuse to dance....wtf would I want to go to a club???

There were a couple that I liked back in my younger days.
Of course it helped that the guys from the squadrons at the base all went to these clubs so we "owned them".

The military clubs used to be the place when they allowed 18 year olds to drink.
The little girls used to line up outside the base looking for an "escort" to the base to get into the club.

I can't stand them now.

I like corner booths

drink more...

3) The crush. Too many obnoxious assholes all in one place chasing what little unaccompanied tail might be in there./

I aggree, way too much smoke.

5) No woman I'd want to have a meaningful relationship with would be caught dead in one of these places, so WTF am I doing there looking for her?/

It depends on where you go around here, if you are just looking for a loud honky tonk evening with good music(ie: Mark Chestnutt @ Grizzly Rose) you are in luck.  If you are looking for a soulmate, try the bar, it will be cheaper.

6) Rediculously expensive./

if you drink alot.

It's my second business. Still love it from time to time, and sometimes it's just freakin' work, and as we know, work sucks. For me I get payed to listen to the music I like, play with the toys that interest me, drink booze and beer (yes PAID to), and check out beautiful womenz all night long. But yes it IS getting old, as so am I. There are deffinatly many nights that I just feel like passing up a "job" and renting a movie with my lady and gettin' ta bed early. For me clubs are good, but too many people within the scene on both sides of it (partons and promoters) carry things in to the wrong direction and ruin it a LOT.
I really agree with Zaphod:
5) No woman I'd want to have a meaningful relationship with would be caught dead in one of these places, so WTF am I doing there looking for her?
I tried that many nights, and it always ended up no good. The best way to meet a girl is through networking. Remeber, she might not be cute, but she might have cute friends heBut my tipsy blabbing doesn't really matter since 98% of members hate that techno crap anyway so I'm gonna move on to another thread now
