Well what is it?

Eta: Me I'd rather be COLD, I can put on a coat or cover up with a blanket if I am too cold.

Hot. Being cold = epic fail.
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 10:21:43 PM EST
Cold screws with my old aching bones. Hot I can handle - it loosens me up.
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 10:22:34 PM EST
I'd rather be too cold, I can always put a sweater on or wrap up in a blanket. Too hot just makes ya sweaty

Seeing as how I don't get to have an actual winter every year, I prefer cold.
Heat and humidity=
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 10:27:45 PM EST
You said would I rather be hot or cold, but if I have the option of putting on more clothes, I won't necessarily be cold anymore.

I prefer cold weather though.
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 10:28:51 PM EST
Pie all the way!

Too cold inside, and way too hot outside. So you're screwed either way. So if you're screwed anyway, just pick the pie.

I'm originally from LA, and I can tell you I don't miss running the A/C in November.

Like the op said, you can pile on the insulation until you are comfortable.

Much rather be too cold than too hot. Grew up in MT! Used to the cold!
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 10:33:47 PM EST
My ideal temp would be 60 degrees with a fan blowing on me.
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 10:34:03 PM EST
This is the epic battle for the AC going on in my house right now.

I prefer cold. If it's too cold you can put on more blankets. There is almost no limit.

If you're hot ... there is only so much cloth you can take off.

If it's over 75 I can't sleep.

If it's 30 I can just bundle up and be fine.
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 10:38:27 PM EST
In the Winter, I want to be hot inside the house but love it outside. In the Texas summer, I actually don't mind it but prefer to be cold when I sleep.
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 10:38:38 PM EST
I don't know why, but my body is like a furnace. Not so much that I feel hot, although I would much prefer the cold. But it's like my skin is hot to the touch. When I'm sitting in one spot for very long, or in bed in one position, it's like whatever is against my skin gets uncomfortably warm. If it's the least bit humid my side of the car fogs up like crazy. I've never heard anyone else describe anything else quite like it, but it's really uncomfortable at time.

Exactly what I've got now. I'll turn it down to about 68 when I go to bed and turn on the fan in the bedroom.

for me heat is much easier to tolerate then cold.

edit to say i HATE winter and snow

Cold. A by-product of way too many Louisiana Summers. 4 months of 100 degree temperatures with 97% humidity get you liking the cold. The humidity is what makes it bad.

We have wood heat, the room mates GF just moved in with us this last winter. Her thermostat is broken...she will set the thermostat at 80* and have a sweatshirt, sweatpants, be covered in a quilt, and be snuggled up next to the room mate. Meanwhile I'm fucking dieing.

Set the god damn heat at 70* and leave it there.

Cold.

You can always put another layer of clothes on.
You can only take so many off.

+1

I like it when it's 50-60 degrees. I don't particularly care for rain or wind, though.
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 11:26:12 PM EST
It depends it rather be cold anytime but when im trying to go to sleep.
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 11:40:18 PM EST
Hot.
Link Posted: 7/19/2008 11:45:57 PM EST
I can always sit closer to the fire, or adda another Layer when it gets cold.

When it's hot out, and you have stripped down to your skivvies, you aren't gonna get any cooler!

That, and there's no Gawddamned Skeeters when it's cold!

I know both well. Too well really.

I did Cold weather training at Bridgeport with the Corp's.

Was stationed at Diego Garcia for over a year.

Grew up and live in a Michigan Swamp/ Blueberry patch.

Gimme Cold!!!!

If I can stay dry, I don't care how cold it is. I actually LIKE it when my Nostril hairs freeze and I can feel it. Kicking the Manitou in the ass with defience warms me up.

Heat exhaustion just flat sucks!!! Heat cramps of major Muscle groups blows Goats!!
The itch and discomfort of heat lacks dignity. Fuck that!!
I hate the heat.

Frostbite heals, and dosn't bother you unless ya screw up and get too cold in the future, so it is self curing.

Better yet, gimme the 50 degree days of fall.
THAT is perfect in my Book.

Lot easier to get sick\die in the cold than it is in the heat, for me anyway
(of course I try to stay out of deserts, and ovens and things like that)

Exactly. You can only take off so much clothes. If you're overheating and stark naked, unless you have a nice cool body of water nearby you're going to be miserable.

But cold...you can always put on more clothes.

The chinese call it that ying and can be fixed by diet. I bet you eat alot of fried things and eat very little green vegetables or fruit. Also drinking too much cold beverage can cause this and meat. Women tend to have the opposite problem when they are imbalanced by diet and are cold.

Lot better to snuggle with wife when it's cold.

Humidity sucks.

Must be a female thing.
When I had a female room mate we would always be fighting over the thermostat. In summer she was too hot (thermostat set at 70), in winter she was too cold (thermostat at 70).
On one winter road trip with my parents my mom, in her heavy winter coat & gloves, was driving & had the heater turned up full blast & was still "cold". I was about to have a goddamned heat stroke after removing my jacket, boots, etc & cracking the window. Turn the motherfucking heater off!!!!! JHFC it's 90+ degrees in here!!!!

+1 on cold > hot.
Always easier to warm up. More layers of clothes & blankets. Hard work/exercise, etc.
Cold encourages you to work hard, get stuff done & plan ahead.
Hot just makes you want to take siestas & do it "tomorrow".

Heat don't bother me a bit - that's why I stay in Florida. You yankees can keep your ice and snow.

Link Posted: 7/20/2008 4:37:40 AM EST
I like the heat!

Grew up in MN, hated the seven months of cold, snow, and winter!

Moved to AZ 32 years ago, the heat doesn't bother me a bit - I like it!

Can't stand wearing anymore clothes than I absolutely have to.

I live in nothern MN where temps of 30 to 40 below zero are fairly common in the winter. This sort of weather can easily KILL you.

So while I HATE hot weather with a passion, it won't usually kill you, but even a relatively minor fuckup in cold weather CAN kill you.

Plus it's nice when your car will start and your rifle doesn't freeze into a popsicle.
Link Posted: 7/20/2008 4:56:27 AM EST
Hot.

I got soaked to the bone going into cave yesterday and was miserable for four hours. Cold and clammy did NOT make for a fun trip.

Getting out into 90 degree heat and feeling the sun warm me up proves heat beats cold anytime
Link Posted: 7/20/2008 4:58:45 AM EST
All other things being equal? Slightly cold.

But I vastly prefer hot weather to cold, as we spend our summers outside.
Link Posted: 7/20/2008 5:02:12 AM EST
Cold you can at least combat with more clothes. With hot you are just SOL and it sucks.
Link Posted: 7/20/2008 5:16:07 AM EST
I prefer cold just because that is when all the insects are dead. I can go to the range and not have to give up a pint of blood to mosquitoes, horseflies and deerflies and pick the ticks off of me when I get home.
Link Posted: 7/20/2008 5:40:19 AM EST
While I hate winter I would have to pick cold over hot because of the humidity. I wait all winter for things to warm up and then it gets disgustingly humid and you drip sweat just standing there.

I would take fall all year round, not too hot, not too cold, just right!

Hot. My most miserable experiences were when I was cold. I have never not worked because of the heat, but I have stayed home by the fire when I thought it was too cold.
