Who in their right mind would want to join the Union. They take all the tax money from your state and then give back what they think you should have. The state should collect ALL taxes and tithe to the Fedgov enought to operate certain agencies.

Just some thoughts, but...
We'll likely add most of the Caribbean Basin, including Cuba, Haiti/Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.  Also, the Upper Peninsula will break free from the tyranny known as Michigan!  |

I'd be all for adding Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland right now. Unfortunately, it will be Mexico and Hispaniola and we'll all pay thru the nose for that little privilege. |

I think it will happen. Peauto Rico is probably the closest example of a territory that is growing towards statehood. I would have to think that sooner or later it will get it.

I think we've pretty much reached our limit. None of the protectorates have any interest in statehood, and I wonder if we shouldn't tell them to pick one way or the other, and if they DON'T want statehood, to cut them loose on their own.

PR will never get statehood for itself. Too small to give that much power to. The other states won't stand for it. It will have to be part of a larger state. Some Carribean state or added on as a part of FL perhaps. Another, possibly is DC. I am against it but the socialists would have a wet dream over it. |

Didn't they have a vote a few years ago and they rejected statehood? Something to do with all of the benefits of being a state with none of the problems so they didn't want to?
You just said Puerto Rico is too small to have that much power but then said D.C. is a possibility? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't D.C. quite a bit smaller than PR?

No it's not. Article IV, Section 3 states:
A state can be broken up into two or more states, but the legislalture of the state being subdivided must agree to this division, as must Congress. West Virginia broke off from Virginia, which is the only time this has happened since the Constitution was ratified. |

Several of the Canadian Provinces, Baja California. All of which assume a collapse of the current Canada and Mexico, California being divided in two might be one of the first changes. Scotland, Ireland, Breat Britain, they might take a bit longer

I don't think there will be any more states added, rather countries will join together in some form of treaty with free trade and the ability for people to just immigrate freely in all of the countries.
The USA will then be destroyed. |

if we added cuba I wouldnt mind, if you have any notion of the political climate there, post castro, I can tell you, based on the Cubans in Miami...and there voting tendincies...Cuba would be a red state for a long time....Cuban's historically are the strongest conservative leaning of all Hispanic groups, do your research and reading, it would only help the Repubs if Cuba was added, and to be honest once Castro (assuming he's mortal) leaves power....I wouldnt mind going there for some fun in the sun
