My vote goes to Skyrim!

Minesweeper

Diablo 3 has most of my attention currently. I just got a new rig and can finally run it fully maxed. I hate playing first person games on PC, so Skyrim and shooters stay on console.

That's...odd. I vastly prefer the keyboard and mouse setup, particularly for 1st person games

The Fallout series is my favorite, particularly Fallout 2. Don't think I'll ever love a game as much as I loved Fallout 2.

Command & Conquer series hands down, the earlier the better.

I loved both the Portal games. I'm probably 3/4 of the way through Half Life 2 right now... thankfully the boat ride from hell is distant memory.

Yeah, it was a neat game.

Crysis, all of the series. Loved Crysis 3 but it was too short IMO.

The old days? Total annihilation.

Damn, you got a ways to go yet. If you haven't got that far yet, just wait until Ravenholm.

You'll also be glad to know the next 2 episodes are every bit as good as HL2.

I still play MUDs.

I loved those old Lucas Arts games. I had a box set with x-wing, x-wing vs tie fighter, rebel assault 1 and 2, and dark forces. Great times.

Of all time I too have to say the Half Life series. It looks like they aren't going to make a HL2 episode 3 like originally planned. Prob will just come out with a HL3 altogether.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. By far the best 4X game in existence, thing is so complex they included things like rainfall differences on the east/west side of a mountain range.

Westwood's CnC offerings were great, EA ruined that franchise.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura is another great one, especially if you like steampunk.

Age of Empires was boss, so disappointed the latest version was some cockamamie online free to play POS.

Any game that doesn't use STEAM. Currently playing Torchlight 2 and DOOM 3.

Why? Steam is great.

It blew when it first came out (I'd know - I got in on launch day with all the bugs) but it is awesome now.

Skyrim and Mass Effect 2. Both have awesome soundtracks too.

Also, Civilization 5. I wasn't too sure about it when I read what changes they made, but I now think it is the best game of the Civ series.

Favorite PC game of all time: Delta Force: Black Hawk down. Man, loved that game!! Too bad it got infested with hackers.

Right now, although I haven't played much lately, Battlefield III is pretty awesome.

Too many issues with it in the past. Never again. Some games ALWAYS need an internet connection, even when in offline mode. Not everyone wants to or has the ability to stay connected at all times. Therefore STEAM is depriving players of some great games.

This is not a Steam thing, it's a design choice of the company that developed that game. It's a stupid design choice, but blaming Steam for that is pointing the finger at the wrong entity.

Then why does the error message pop up " STEAM needs an internet connection to play this game". Not a developer thing.

It is a design choice.

If it was Steam, why wouldn't it be every game on Steam? It's not, and as such, it is a design choice made by each developer. It's normally a DRM type measure, anti-piracy kinda thing.

It says "STEAM needs a connection to play this game" because you're using Steam to launch that game, and thus Steam is communicating out. The game passes Steam an error and Steam presents you the error.

IMO steam is a good tradeoff. Yeah, you need an internet connection but you have access to all your games as long as steam is in business. IIRC you can still play some games if your intertez are broken.
