Diablo 3 has most of my attention currently. I just got a new rig and can finally run it fully maxed. I hate playing first person games on PC, so Skyrim and shooters stay on console.

I vastly prefer the keyboard and mouse setup, particularly for 1st person games The Fallout series is my favorite, particularly Fallout 2. Don't think I'll ever love a game as much as I loved Fallout 2. |

Multiplayer: The Counter-Strike series. CS:GO currently.
Single player: The Half-Life series. |
|
Of all time? X-Com: UFO Defense. I am a sucker for squad level turn based strategy games.

Chuck Yeager's Modern Air Combat! In the early 90's, on your 486DX....WOW, too much fun!

Moorhuhn (Chicken Hunter). Unfortunately it's not supported on the newer versions of windows.

I loved both the Portal games. I'm probably 3/4 of the way through Half Life 2 right now... thankfully the boat ride from hell is distant memory.

Crysis, all of the series. Loved Crysis 3 but it was too short IMO.
The old days? Total annihilation. |
|
Killing Floor has been my favorite for a while now. Defense Grip is also a great way to kill some serious time.

If you haven't got that far yet, just wait until Ravenholm. You'll also be glad to know the next 2 episodes are every bit as good as HL2. |

Deus Ex(the original) when I played pc games. It has been a while though.

TIE Fighter Collector's CD-ROM I loved those old Lucas Arts games. I had a box set with x-wing, x-wing vs tie fighter, rebel assault 1 and 2, and dark forces. Great times. Of all time I too have to say the Half Life series. It looks like they aren't going to make a HL2 episode 3 like originally planned. Prob will just come out with a HL3 altogether. |

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. By far the best 4X game in existence, thing is so complex they included things like rainfall differences on the east/west side of a mountain range.
Westwood's CnC offerings were great, EA ruined that franchise. Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura is another great one, especially if you like steampunk. Age of Empires was boss, so disappointed the latest version was some cockamamie online free to play POS. |

Any game that doesn't use STEAM. Currently playing Torchlight 2 and DOOM 3.

Skyrim and Mass Effect 2. Both have awesome soundtracks too.
Also, Civilization 5. I wasn't too sure about it when I read what changes they made, but I now think it is the best game of the Civ series. |

Favorite PC game of all time: Delta Force: Black Hawk down. Man, loved that game!! Too bad it got infested with hackers.
Right now, although I haven't played much lately, Battlefield III is pretty awesome.

Some games ALWAYS need an internet connection, even when in offline mode. Not everyone wants to or has the ability to stay connected at all times. Therefore STEAM is depriving players of some great games. |

It's a stupid design choice, but blaming Steam for that is pointing the finger at the wrong entity. |

TFC. So much fun as a kid, but nobody really plays it anymore. TF 2 is pretty fun, but everybody just wants to trade with you. Arma 3 is pretty fun playing wasteland. Although its in "Alpha" right now. |

Not a developer thing. It is a design choice. If it was Steam, why wouldn't it be every game on Steam? It's not, and as such, it is a design choice made by each developer. It's normally a DRM type measure, anti-piracy kinda thing. It says "STEAM needs a connection to play this game" because you're using Steam to launch that game, and thus Steam is communicating out. The game passes Steam an error and Steam presents you the error. |

Yeah, you need an internet connection but you have access to all your games as long as steam is in business. IIRC you can still play some games if your intertez are broken. |
