Who's tried them?
ETA: and lived? |

yesterday
Got the ghost pepper one. Meh, got some tingle on the taste buds, but I like it if tears are streaming down my face and my forehead is sweating. Did not go that far, it was the same with the Wendys ghost pepper fries, you could taste some heat but nothing that is going to send you to the fridge looking for milk |
|
Dude, those are marketing gimmicks.
They are about as hot as Pace picante sauce. |
|
I'm not looking to Taco Bell for anything spicy.
Their "Fire" sauce tastes like ketchup with a little extra seasoning. |
|
Had the habanero and ghost pepper ones today not really hot at all, just spicy.

The Ghost Pepper one actually has a bit of spice to it. Not bad for a buck.
I just wish they'd bring back their "Diablo" hot sauce, it was like maybe Frank's Red Hot, but it was far better than any of their other salsa type sauces. I think these new "Grillers" are the response to the popularity of the trial run of their Diablo sauce. That amount of heat on a standard softshell would be perfect. |

It was a vaguely spicier fire with a little smokiness. |

Most people aren't all about hot food, so stuff that is weak to someone like me (I love hot and spicy food) is going to be really hot to the average moron consumer. It's not worth it financially for taco bell to make something so hot that most of their market won't want to eat it. |

Before I spent 6 weeks over there I couldn't tolerate much more than black pepper or tony chachere's. Things are different now. |

i picked up a chipotle one yesterday, wasnt to spicy until i used some diablo sauce on it.

I love it. It is not hot, but the flavor is good. It is the taco sauce I use on my homemade tacos. |

People would literally die if they really used ghost peppers. Most people would be in serious pain from a decent taste of habenero. Taco Bell can't really do hot.

I ate 2 ghost pepper ones the other week. They were okay and certainly more hot than Wendy's ghost pepper fries. I added some Dave's insanity ghost pepper sauce to them to make them actually painful.
Not bad for a dollar though. |

Not bad, but definitely not up to the hype. Some of this helped: |

I used to go to TB just to stock up on it before they started selling it by the bottle. |

There is hot and there is hot for the public. I have yet to try anything "hot" in a fast food restaurant.

Diablo was nasty to me. Just an off flavor that I couldn't get into and it was nowhere near hot.
I usually douse my TB with Chipotle Cholula. |

I figure you've got to be a daredevil to eat anything at Taco Bell, particularly if you are going to be away from a toilet afterwards.

The old rule of thumb used to be: If the waitress is white, the "Hot" sauce isn't hot.

The peppers in Kung Pao chicken and to a lesser extent, their hot mustard. That's the "Sriracha" asian flavor though. Much different from the "southern" hot sauces. I like it now and again, but like Franks Red Hot for a mild spice up and Some Yucatan Habenero sauce for pure heat without making it taste like chinese food. |

I like the Fire sauce and loved Diablo. You can buy the fire sauce in grocery stores around here.
|
|
if you ask they will give you a cheese cup full of the ghost sauce. its like .30 for it though..
|

They're ok. didn't like the taste of the Ghost Pepper. It wasn't that hot, just didn't taste that good. The Chipotle and Habanero were pretty good with Texas Pete on them.
