All drivers, please toss an old blanket in the car. Loki is a very good rider, but accidents can happen, and especially since Loki will be handed off through so many people in such a short time. I'm sure DoverGunner will send Loki with snacks and such. PLEASE PLAN TIME FOR STOPS EVERY COUPLE OF HOURS JUST IN CASE. Look for handoff places like Cracker Barrel or parks or...sometimes Tractor Supply has a grass area around it. A place where Loki can have grass to do his business. |

I have everyone's numbers, and am about to set up the group text! This one has been unusual in that it's SEEMED more difficult to set up, but I believe Mark is watching over all of us, and I've learned that when there are delays, often it's for a reason. A version of "Angels watching over me" I guess, so whether you believe in all that woo woo or not, we are here and Operation Loki Lift is a GO! We roll tomorrow. Most IMPORTANT: THANK YOU to all of you. Your time is the most precious thing you can give. You are giving it to Loki and SemperFi Dog Rescue. Words are not enough, but they are our only way to appreciate you, so...thank you. Especially for hanging in with us through communication issues! Mark's protocols: For handoffs: Try to choose a spot where there is grass. A Cracker Barrel, TSC, rest stops, etc... This transport is a long one, so allow 15-20 mins or so at handoffs, to let Loki get comfortable with the new driver. Plus potty break for all concerned. Mark/Joker1 set up certain protocols for transporters, and we try to hold to those, respecting his knowledge and experience. ANY DOG CAN BOLT. No matter how well behaved in ordinary circumstances. LOKI IS A STRONG DOG, AND HE IS A FAST DOG. ALWAYS ASSUME THE DOG MAY BOLT. These transports are stressful for the dog. Because of that... 1--If possible, Dog has on two leashes at all times. We don't trust our beloved dog to one clip on a cheap leash. It could break. Last thing we want is to lose a dog. Plus... This way he can be tethered in the car and you can have a good hold on him before you untie that leash. 2--Dog is tethered in the car at all times--this way he can't bolt when the door is opened. This is SUPER IMPORTANT. Even if he seems calm, this rule has saved dogs before. 3--ALWAYS put your hand THROUGH the loop on the leash, and keep that around your wrist, then grab the lead with your hand. So if he jerks, you have time to react. Don't just hold the loop in your hand. 4-If you have an old blanket or large towel to throw over the back seat, it might save the day. He does not get car sick, but he is leaving his beloved dad, DoverGunner, and emotional stress is serious stuff. Loki is a good traveler. But this is a long journey. Take your time with the safety protocols so he can get home to his new family safely, and drivers can get back home safely too! |

I am so sorry I missed the text. I will have Loki at eagle eye range by 10:30 am Just a heads up Loki if given the chance will bolt. He rides fine tethered. As far as potty breaks. Loki rode from Joker1's to KC. 11-13 hours. We had many potty stops. He never once went potty. As soon as we got home he spent 10+ minutes marking his territory lol. If anyone has questions my cell number is in the group chat I missed. Thank you one and all |

Everyone please send up a prayer for a safe journey for ALL who are driving, and that Loki will know he is going from LOVE to MOAR LOVE, and that Mark/Joker1 has his back. Also prayers for DoverGunner and his family who are giving up their beloved buddy, and prayers for grace for RECONSIX and his family as they welcome Loki, deal with his confusion and adjustments, and bring him into their family. Might not be politically correct to ask for prayers, but I don't care. If you believe in prayer, send one up for all. And thank you.

I am back home now. Just before I got to efpeters handoff, Google Maps had me get off I70 and travel the backroads. Loki either hates cows or he thought that they were huge dogs. He got rea agitated. Other than that the trip went well. Reconsix is going to be delighted with this Semper Fi pup!Attached File Attached File |

I brought the sammich maker along to help with dog duties and her and Loki both performed admirably. He is sure energetic and full of life. Walks with his head up tall like a thoroughbred. He was a bit on edge at first but settled in fine after 10-15 miles. He is almost to his new home. Now back home and our Black Mouth Cur is wondering just what hell we did today.  Making his introductions!  After he had settled in a bit  Making sure we are following the rules of the road.   Will definitely be vacuuming the truck AND the wife tommorow!
