SO this nice looking west German 226 9MM followed me home today, came with 4 mags, original box, test target, and manual. It looks pretty sharp! So whats there to know about it(its my first p226).

I got dibs if you are selling it.
There is a SN to production year thread on a major other forum devoted to SIG firearms. Check the pistol area. Carbon folded slide. Those are probably zipperback magazines. A used P226 like that changed pistol shooting for me. I was a bad shot with my 1911 and BHP, then a 1991 P226 entered my life. It was love a first sight. |

Great pistol, world class combat pistol. What did you pay for it?????

Awesome pistol. However....one aspect conveniently left out by beretta haters in the m9 trials is that at 5,000 rds the roll pins on the slide must be replaced or risk destroying frame.
I live the classic p226. But its really no better or worse in terms of reliability then its direct competitor. If either roll pin starts coming out stop shooting it and replace them. Oh.....you can no longer find extractors for them. Sig will replace them.....but no one carries them anymore. Maybe $100 on ebay. Still a great gun. |

Sweet! I picked up one of those (box target etc) a few years ago at Scheels It is a great gun!

The W Germany marked guns have long been considered some of their best guns with the Tysons Corner VA from what I hear being the best.
Some sweet shooting firearms. |

Damn man, nice! My W. German P226 is one of the finest shooting pistols I own, period.

I have a 84 West German 226 I won in raffle a few years back for $20.

Beautiful gun!!
I've got a West German P226 on my hip right now ![]() |

It's pretty. I love mine, just keep the slide rails greased. How does the barrel look? As pristine as that thing is, I bet you barely have any smileys on it.

This one rode along with me in my survival vest on every mission during Desert Storm A-10, still have it. U124144 S/N

Pre 1991 are the ones most sought after. Like yours.
I bought the identical setup, yellow box, unfired, etc. back in 04. |

Make sure you replace the recoil spring as well to avoid a cracked frame.

Very nice. They allowed you to carry personal sidearms? View Quote |

I have one a few years younger but in worse external shape. Was my first real pistol. Fits the hand and shoots like a dream. Produced when the Sig name actually meant quality.

That's older than 22 yrs. P226 was my first pistol purchase and it came in a grey and black cardboard box.
You should get one, see what they are going for on the internets and negoiate accordingly, but that is a reasonable price. That's in great shape... Dealer in the Pxxx series is higher than that and they ain't W.German pistols. |
