From character assement alone, I like the guy. I think 8 years of him telling the press where they can put it, and doing things exactly how he'd like to would be fun. He seems to conduct himself with the knowledge of his position, and trys to fulfill his job description without doing things that aren't his job.

That said I know very little of his political views. He doesn't readily make them available from what I've been able to find, and to me, thats how non-elected officials should conduct themselves anyways, its not a political office.

The only negative about the guy I can think of was when he used a signature machine to sign letters to the deceaseds parents. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that it didn't dawn on him that was an asshole move. As far as scandals goes, beats 'define the word 'is''.

Fill me in on his political views if you know more.

The press would never let it happen.

no way he could win.

I'm at a loss for words.

He is WAY too old to run for President...He'd never live through his first term.

Yeah. Pretty much my feelings, too.

Nice baiting from a new troll, though.

I vote for whomever the hell I want to, the media has no say in what I do.

The media hates Bush, that didn't stop me from voting for him, twice.
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 1:35:36 PM EST
I have never even heard someone suggest this..probably because is cant happen in the current environment.

Interesting concept.....useless poll since the answer is that he couldnt win...it would be like voting for a dead guy.

Right, thats pretty much how the entire republican party gets elected. I think its possible just because the media hates him so much.

Perhaps, but I'm not baiting, rumsfeld is the only guy i'll stop the TV on CSPAN for. I really like listening to the guy talk.

I don't know why the concept is breath-taking, I'm sure I'm not alone. The poll says only 1/3rd is with me though.
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 3:13:06 PM EST
No...

I want another Republican...

Though he would be better than Rudy, Blumeturd, or McFuckstain

John Ashcroft in '08?
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 3:14:27 PM EST
He is in no way electable, IMO. Too old, too hated. I like the guy, but it just ain't gonna happen. He is less electable than Obama.
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 3:16:28 PM EST
I've always like the guy. He's a highly respectable man. It's a shame there are not more people like him in government.

The standard for holding the highest office in the land is woefully minimal on here. Scary stuff.

As long as you're not particularly concerned about the effectiveness or relevance of government, that makes total sense.

+1 Not even conservatives like Bush any more. He makes the party look bad. The ONLY person in his cabinet that could *might* win an election would be Colin Powell, and only because he *basically* has disowned Bush.

Speak for yourself.

Powell!?

Are you serial?
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 4:11:32 PM EST
He is as polarizing as Billary & Howard Dean.
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 4:11:45 PM EST
Two words: Hell yes!

I think Sec. Def. Rumsfeld is the best thing to happen to the Pentagon in decades. It's just the fucking treasonous ignorant liberals who give him so much bad press, who incidentally, no jack shit about military affairs.

I won't speculate on whether or not he could be elected.
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 4:13:28 PM EST
He doesn't dumb-down his speeches enough to appeal to the leftards, but I think he'd be a fine President.

Bush isn't a conservative. That's one of the biggest strikes against him.

I'd vote for Rumsfeld so we can wage war on more bad guys.

Sure he is. Maybe not your kind of conservative or mine, but he is certainly some kind of conservative.

He isn't really a republican.
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 4:22:04 PM EST
He's had too much bad press.

Most of the stuff Bush is blamed for he is blamed for first.

A lot of people see him as everything that is wrong with the current administration.

It is impossible to over come this bad press. Certain candidates simply can't win.

Now I wouldn't vote for him... and if I wouldn't then 50% of Republicans wouldn't.

I'll vote for someone that stands a change.

Don't even dare say that there is "my kind" of conservative. That is as offensive as me calling you a libtard.

Steel tarriffs anyone?

Deficit spending out the ass?

Socialized prescription drug program?

This man is a conservative? What exactly is he "conserving"?
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 4:36:59 PM EST
OMG could you imagine the meltdown the libs would have if he got elected. HAHAHAHA!!!
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 4:40:51 PM EST
He is so unelectable it's not even funny.
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 4:42:09 PM EST
No offense intended Tim.

I'm just saying I think when W says republican he's not talking about a form and philosophy of government, he's thinking of a little elephant.

Conservative is a word with so many meanings as to be meaningless.

Bush is conservative in the same sense that in a room full of midgets, one of them is "tall" compared to the others.

I'm a retired vet with tours in Berlin, Korea, VN (twice), Honduras. I would not vote for him under any circumstance. We have been 2 divisions short in Iraq since it started. I see Rumsfeld as the same Satanic ogre that inhabited the body of MacNamara who I hope also goes to hell.
I would like to see my old platoon Ldr in Berlin, Norman Schwartzkoph run. (Scout Plt 2nd BG, 6th Inf) If not him then Tommy Franks.

I'm a Republican but I hate Rummy dummy.
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 5:06:11 PM EST
No. He fires people for not agreeing with him. Someone that will not hear opposing views from within his own group is nothing short of a tyrant.

I don't think he's got the head for leading the country. I like him, like his policies, but his ability to hold the oval office? No, sorry I don't like him there.

It's science fiction anyway. Christopher Walken stands a better chance.

I see the trait revered most by the sheeple is stubbornness, no matter how monumental your screw ups. You idiots will be the death of this country, I swear.

Please read up and get a clue, it's 13 pages which might be a bit much who form their opinions purely off of soundbites:
