From character assement alone, I like the guy.  I think 8 years of him telling the press where they can put it, and doing things exactly how he'd like to would be fun.  He seems to conduct himself with the knowledge of his position, and trys to fulfill his job description without doing things that aren't his job.

That said I know very little of his political views.  He doesn't readily make them available from what I've been able to find, and to me, thats how non-elected officials should conduct themselves anyways, its not a political office.

The only negative about the guy I can think of was when he used a signature machine to sign letters to the deceaseds parents.  I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that it didn't dawn on him that was an asshole move.  As far as scandals goes, beats 'define the word 'is''.

Fill me in on his political views if you know more.

Interesting concept.....useless poll since the answer is that he couldnt win...it would be like voting for a dead guy.

Right, thats pretty much how the entire republican party gets elected.  I think its possible just because the media hates him so much.

Perhaps, but I'm not baiting, rumsfeld is the only guy i'll stop the TV on CSPAN for.  I really like listening to the guy talk.

I don't know why the concept is breath-taking, I'm sure I'm not alone.  The poll says only 1/3rd is with me though.

+1 Not even conservatives like Bush any more. He makes the party look bad. The ONLY person in his cabinet that could *might* win an election would be Colin Powell, and only because he *basically* has disowned Bush.

Two words: Hell yes!

I think Sec. Def. Rumsfeld is the best thing to happen to the Pentagon in decades.  It's just the fucking treasonous ignorant liberals who give him so much bad press, who incidentally, no jack shit about military affairs.

I won't speculate on whether or not he could be elected.

He's had too much bad press.

Most of the stuff Bush is blamed for he is blamed for first.

A lot of people see him as everything that is wrong with the current administration.

It is impossible to over come this bad press.  Certain candidates simply can't win.

Now I wouldn't vote for him... and if I wouldn't then 50% of Republicans wouldn't.

I'll vote for someone that stands a change.

Don't even dare say that there is "my kind" of conservative.  That is as offensive as me calling you a libtard.

Steel tarriffs anyone?

Deficit spending out the ass?

Socialized prescription drug program?

I'm a retired vet with tours in Berlin, Korea, VN (twice), Honduras.  I would not vote for him under any circumstance.  We have been 2 divisions short in Iraq since it started. I see Rumsfeld as the same Satanic ogre that inhabited the body of MacNamara who I hope also goes to hell.
I would like to see my old platoon Ldr in Berlin, Norman Schwartzkoph run. (Scout Plt 2nd BG, 6th Inf) If not him then Tommy Franks.
