Some of my family spent many years living in Zambia and they had nothing but respect for the Rhodesians. I've made the mistake of mentioning Mugabe once around my mom.........Never again lol.

Britain at the time was armed with L1A1 which is an inch pattern of the FAL, South Africa was also using a FAL derivative the R1. The FAL in those days was known as the "Right Arm of the Free World". Pretty much if you weren't getting guns from the USA or the Soviets you were using a FAL

Yep, if my memory serves me correctly, both the US and the British supported Rhodesia......before they were against it and left the nation to die on the vine. Got to love politicians for standing by their commitments.

I'm betting Rhodesia wan't perfect but damn, just look at the hell hole it's been for the las 30 years.

Great book. I just finished Chris Cocks' Fireforce. Thats another tremendous book on the conflict.
