Dear Donald:
One of the rights specifically protected in our bill of rights, second
only to the freedom of speech is that "...the right of the people to keep
and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The Constitution is clear about
this.
At your request I have signed on as a cosponsor to H.R. 1762 which would
repeal the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act. The Brady Act was
passed before I was elected and has not helped keep guns away from
criminals. In fact, at times, it has kept law-abiding citizens from
buying a gun when they wish. Unfortunately, this bill did not pass the
House in the last Congress. I strongly oppose this law and will work to
repeal it in order to give law-abiding gun owners the rights they are
being denied.
