Hope this is the right place to post this. Just got a part time position with a local PD, for traffic control, and have to purchase my own equipment. I did not realize how expensive that stuff is. Bought pants and shirt almost cost me 125.00 and next i need to buy my belt and shoes. Looks like another 140.00 to 170.00 Is this stuff usually this expensive? is it better to find some place on the net to buy some of this equipment at a better price? Like shoes, belt, radio holder, holster, key holder. |

store.ombexpress.com/ These guys usually have the lowest prices that I've seen. |

-1 on Galls. Good customer service, decent selection in-stock, but not cheap. If it's just traffic control and not patrol, I'd haunt eBay for a cheap duty rig. Seen some complete belts go pretty cheap there. And tag for inexpensive uniforms. Haven't found anything made of quality that wasn't at least $50 or so. I'm curious--are you already working at another PD? Do they issue everything there? I keep trying to stretch my $400 annual allowance, so I'm too aware how much this junk costs. |

I'm looking for a leather inner Velcro belt and a plain outer belt, need a Key keeper and radio holder. Going to get my boots this weekend, also going to a gun show to see if i might be able to find something there. |
In terms of the key keeper, I have one on my belt, but actually don;t use it. I just use the top button of my front left belt 'keeper'. If you could use nylon, I'd suggest the Bianchi patroltek line. For leather, not sure. |
I've got a basketweave universal radio holder. Looks like this one, but obviously has the basketweave finish on it. If you want it, it's yours. Just lemme know where to send it. |

I prefer Danner but they dont' come cheap. www.lapolicegear.com/co88me8lesiz.html |
I've ordered my boots and gloves from them. Good service. |

Don't order Galls stuff online. Call them up and ask to speak to a sales person. I left a large agency where everything was provided to go a small department where I had to buy all my equipement. I picked basic web gear that came to 350 bucks. My captain gave me a name of a particular sales person who I called, he gave me a discount on everything but the ASP. In the end the guy saved me alittle more than a 100 bucks off my total order. Everything was in stock and they had it shipped to my house within a few days. One more thing, not sure if your agency requires specific boots etc. Shop around and you might find what you need on sale locally instead of ordering them online. |

glockmann - got your email about the radio holder... I tried emailing back but it didn't seem to want to cooperate with me. I'm not looking to get anything out of it, seriously. I've got no use for basketweave anything anymore. If you want to cover actual shipping costs that'd be great. I'll send it off monday or tuesday and put my address in the package. ETA - that gives me a couple days to find it
