My farmgirl from Northern Ireland passed her interview for US citizenship today, she goes for her formal swearing in ceremony in a week or so.
Very happy day for us, she was getting nervous studying, etc. Woohoo! Time for a drink! Had to share, thanks for listening. |

There are two kinds of people in this world: those that are Irish and those that wish they were Irish.
Thankfully I'm at least a quarter Irish. |

Congratulations. I am desended from an Irish
orphan who had the nerve to jump on a ship for something better. Good for her. |

Congrats. I doubt most Americans could pass the test without studying first. Most legal immigrants take their citizenship (and its associated responsibilities) much more seriously than those born to it.
My wife will be eligible next year, but her English reading skills probably aren't strong enough to study for and take the test yet. However, we're actively working on it, and I hope she'll get there eventually. |

excellent.
did you know that many Choctaws feel that the Irish are long lost tribal members? from the minute the first ones stepped off the boat. we sent ambassadors during the Famine to bring them home...to Oklahoma. thats how part of my family ended here. |

Congrats....
We had a restaurant owner down the street get his citizenship and we gave him a flag. It's the best when you can choose your own country.

unless they've changed the test it's a joke
each question gives away the answer to the previous one my friend's mom worked for immigration and had a copy of the citizenship test on their refrigerator for a while questions from it that I remember Can the Constitution be changed? What are changes to the Constitution called? How many Amendments have there been to the Constitution? etc |

As far as your wife not wanting to be a citizen, my wife used to talk BS about not wanting it too - they're a proud people. She'll come around. Keep at it. My wife used to also have no use for guns, etc as she grew up in a society that didn't have any. She was a little freaked about me having a Glock 26 on my person at all times. Things change. She just recently took her NRA Intro To Firearms course and I bought her a Ruger 10/22 at her request. |

She arrived just in time to watch Obama turn America into Belfast.
