Just now on Fox News. Reportedly police are on hand and there is now a semi-lockdown of the Astrodome. heh.

Honestly, how is passing out a debit card going to help these folks? Hasn't the government realized that the money is just going to be used for expensive electronics and booze? Sorry if that assessment is cold but I've seen too much to believe otherwise. MJD
this is where the real looting begins. If they can cheat the welfare system and other Govt programs, they sure as shit will scam multiple cards
Um, Me thinks that the thugs will start taking the cards from the weak. Talk about a dumb idea.
Talk about B A D idea. I see more assaults, robberies, stolen cards,... among the refugees now. Thugs will have a field day. |
I think the cards should all say, "A $2,000 donation has been given in your name to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund".
Then watch the |
Fox News is doing a live segment from there now. What a debacle.
I hear people on the TV complaining while they wait for thier FREE handout
I also heard of people going to buy beds, oyser and clam dinners, getting thier hair done at a salon, etc. Good to see me tax dollars and contribution going to good use. On a side note, I've heard that the debit cards are being funded by the Red Cross and not teh Gov't ...Anyone hear otherwise?? |
Ya these debit cards are from the Red Cross |
My first thought as well. They give everyone $2000 and don't expect people to get robbed? Idiots. If the thugs work in groups/gangs they can make a lot more than if they sold crack. |

Anyone remember this?
www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=380006 Panic ensues in rush for cheap laptops RICHMOND, Virginia (AP) -- A rush to purchase $50 used laptops turned into a violent stampede Tuesday, with people getting thrown to the pavement, beaten with a folding chair and nearly driven over. One woman went so far to wet herself rather than surrender her place in line. "This is total, total chaos," said Latoya Jones, 19, who lost one of her flip-flops in the ordeal and later limped around on the sizzling blacktop with one foot bare. More than 1,000 people turned out at the Richmond International Raceway in hopes of getting their hands on one of the 4-year-old Apple iBooks, which retail for between $999 and $1,299. The Henrico County school system was selling 1,000 of the computers to county residents. Multiply that feeding frenzy a hundred times over for the debit cards. |
$2,000 free debit cards
About 240,000 refugees Total cost of cards 480 MILLION DOLLARS How many think this handout will be used for necessities only? |
Anybody know how much funding the Red Cross gets from the federal government? |
Doesnt look like a semi-lockdown to me.....everyone is behind the fence, fights are now breaking out |
Even one more reason not to give a dime to the Red Cross. |
That would buy a lot of ammo. |
Last year the Fed netted over $8,000 from me in Income Tax alone. This year will be more. That's why I won't donate to "hurricane Katrina relief" - I just DID at gunpoint, to the tune of $2,000 of MY tax dollars. $2,000 pfft - that'll be gone by Monday. Then they'll be back bitchin for more on Tuesday. |
That's why we have drive-up liquor stores in Texas. We can take advantage of these fools.
My position exactly. |
How are they ensuring everybody only gets one?
Ink, like in the Iraqi election? /what a flippin' mess. //can't wait to hear from the Jackson/Sharpton show how this handout is somehow racist... |
The cards should be distributed at the city limits on the outbound lanes of the interstate highways.
Yeah! You could buy a good AR, mags and ammo! |
$2,000 ain't nowhere near "40 acres and a mule"! NO JUSTICE NO PEACE! |
The kicker to me was "I can't wait to get my card, I'm going to the salon to get my hair did so that way I will feel clean."
What BS. |
Let's see, $2000 card = trade for $1,000 cash , answer is $500 in crack. Watch things really start going crazy there now. Remember in basic when the first trip to the PX was permitted? All the junk, crap, boom boxes, stupid stuff that was bought just to start fights, get busted, taken away and stolen? These people have no where to keep anything, no way to protect their stuff, doing that was stupid.

And then im gunna git me sum good eats, Mmmmmm..... |
Damn, I wish I had a way to sell rims outside the dome. If they even have a shopping cart you know they'll put rims on it.
Amen. |
I'm sorry, that's terrible, but so hilarious too |
I belive it's $2000 per household, not per person. Still, if 240,000 is divided by the average household of 2.1, that's still almost 229 million. I don't remember them doing this with Hurricane Andrew. |
"I got enough cigarettes to last me and my family for years!" |
Its amazing what the word racism will get ya in this country, aint it? |
Rush just said that some kook from DemocraticUnderground.com was driving around trying to help people. He saw an elderly black woman and was about to help her until he saw the Bush bumper sticker!
necessities include a 40 of shlitz malt liquor, new rims, more gaudy 'jewelry', new sneekers to replace the one they looted, etc, etc. |
Someone could make a lot of money buying those cards for cash. I bet a few people will wind up with a lot of cards. I wonder what the going rate will be $500, a $1000.
If they're living in the Astrodome, where the hell are they supposed to keep the stuff we bought them??
Are they going to give them closet space there too??? |
Certainly there are other sports stadiums over 25 years old which |
once again The_Macallan has hit the nail on the head. More wealth redistribution, in the name of charity. BOHICA. These 'folks' will be back to the trough on Tuesday |
I have heard stories that folks have been offering their $200 red cross cards for $100 cash (usually in front of Wal-Mart).
If the government keeps giving them money, they will never leave.
ARH |
Well, Fox News is reporting that FEMA is paying for these cards, not Red Cross. So, this one is on us....... |
