I don't know about you guys but my arms get tired just looking at the M240. Think they made the bipod heavy/bulky enough? At least the gun kicks ass, the old M60 weighed just as much and didn't run nearly as well from what I've heard.
Better eat yer Wheaties boys. And thanks for fighting my war for me while I sit here at the computer and get fat. I AM appreciative. |

The 240 design has been around a LOOOONG time, as the FN-MAG58, made famous in Rhodesia and South Africa. "Robust" doesn't begin to cover it You are correct, though: The thing is a pig to hump!

Not unless you strap two of them together. The 240 is larger, heavier, and has a higher cyclic rate, but they both "run" very well. |

I'm pretty sure that it is not a 55 gal drum being towed behind the ship. They are on the port side (provided that the ship is not backing down.) Most likely they are shooting at waves, when I shot the .50's that is all we got to shoot at, just waves.

- I am AGAINST THIS WAR and I WILL DO anything to piss on it. This is an OIL war, nothing else. If you remember even before the elections there was a memo from the Bush's gang about hitting Iraq. He (Bush) got over $80 mill in campaign money from oil and energy comp. and now he has to keep his end of the bargain and provide FREE (stolen) oil for his supporters. The Gulf war finished 11 years ago and was enough time to punish Iraq for non-compliance. Bush comes to power and here we have a war. If YOU support it so much WHY don't you, or your family join right now and fight ? You can't ? Yeah, I thought so. And you still wonder why so many countries HATE us? I have nothing against fighting against anybody that did us harm, but not for stealing resources. Right now IMO Bush is just as bad as Hitler. I'm sure there are a few Marines here in camp Pendelton that would love to see you say that to there face. I also love who the people how can't always come down on the people who can or have. Anyway The 240G is a bit$& to hump around. The sad part is that a lot of the time we don't even get a sling for it. Me I'd like the military switch to a gun that can be used in the standing without the worried of grabbing hot metal or having hot brass hit your arm or other body parts. I think the 240G would be good gun if it would have a ejection like the M60 out the side not the bottom. It also is hell when you are shooting a lot of rounds and the brass is piling up and you can't use your T&E for sh*t and you have to take your hand a clear away all the brass. Thats just my option on this weapon from the 6,000+ rounds that I have shot through it. |

The 60 actually feels right at home when you carry it (relatively speaking). Shoulder firing the 240G is the last thing you'd want to do with it. Not so with the pig (M60). Now, the M249 (belt, drum, or magazine fed), there's a wonder to behold. Believe it or not, the M60 feels as good or better to hold/carry/shoulder than the 249, though. |
