Met him twice at gun events, once last year and once about 5 years ago at the Rifle Dynamics SHOT show afterparty where we talked for maybe 20-30 minutes about gun stuff before people really knew about his channel.
He is exactly the same in real life as he is in the videos- a bit nerdy and super friendly. I honestly am not star struck by meeting anyone in the industry (they are all just people, despite reputation), but I will admit I took a selfie with him 
He is a huge asset to the firearms community, no agenda other than to share knowledge and record it for future generations. Sven Manticore Arms |

Love viewing his channel.
Hate how he pronounces 'Garand'. He did make some small mistakes in a video about a Gew.98 Mauser, but that is forgivable given the totality of his knowledge and work. Plus I am a Gew.98 nerd, I doubt many collectors picked up on the miscues. |

I've always liked Forgotten Weapons and binge on it every so often. It was after recent FW binge session that I noticed his name in the bylines of a few American Rifleman articles. Generally, Russian stuff, SKS, Mosin, etc, etc

Have shot with him and Karl many times at the Pima pistol Club 2 gun match. They really are great people from everything I have seen. Karl and 1 other guy are the organizers for that match and really do a great job.

I'm also a huge Forgotten Weapons fan. I check out the channel everyday and it's really rare that I don't care about whatever gun he's going over on any particular day. 99% of it I'm glued to.
I need to get off my cheap ass and throw a couple bucks at his Patreon to show appreciation I guess. Makes me wonder what kind of money he gets now from Youtube, Patreon and whatever else he does to make money to travel all over the place and shoot and edit videos all day. |
