How do I open a bucket?

I bought a white 2 gallon bucket at Home Depot to hold ammonium nitrate for making explosive targets. I remember seeing a sticker on the lid that had instructions for removing the lid, but I didn't read it because I was thinking to myself, "I don't need instructions on how to take the lid off a bucket."

Well, I can't open the bucket, and the manufacturer put the instruction sticker ON THE INSIDE OF THE LID, where it is guaranteed to not help.

So I ask again, How do I open a bucket?

I've seen a few where you must rip off a plastic ring that holds on the lid.  Almost like the string you rip off one of those express mail envelopes?  You gotta remove that and then pull off the lid.  I've also seen others that have screw on lids.  Just a couple thoughts...

They do make small shears for the lid, kind of like pruners, they use a razor intead.

Cut it with a utility knife and wear eye protection, channel locks , scrwe driver , ect.

With bucket in front of you 3.5" from your toes take your hands and hold them out in front of you like you were going to play patty cake. Now touch thumbs together and bend over. With thumbs still touching place them on the top of the bucket lid. Thumbs still touching slide then to the far side of the lid until you hit the lip of the lid. Now slide the bucket between your legs still holding the lid and sit down. Keeping thumbs against the lip of the bucket put your fingers straight out so they are know hanging over the edge of the bucket. Thumbs still on the inside lid of the bucket

I couldnt finish this because of the nagging doubt that if you cant open a bucket I cant be part of you playing with explosive.

Sorry

To get your man card back, delete the thread.  Get in your TRUCK and drive to Home Depot.  Look at the buckets that haven't been sold until you find the instructions.  Read them.  Dictate them into your mobile phone memo storage.

Drive home.  Open bucket.  Admit nothing.  Make sure the dog knows to keep quiet too.

Pull off the "pull away" ring that is on the bottom of the lid.

Cut it in the notched area, and PULL IT OFF.  Then the Lid will come off.

Return it, get new bucket, read directions before installing bucket top.

BTW: Stock up on headlight fluid while there, a little birdy told me prices are going up due to a shortage.

1.  go outside

2.  pour 1 gallon gasoline on and around your bucket

3.  mix with a liberal amount of lighter fluid

4.  add a small amount of engine oil

5.  light a match

6.  apply match to mixture

7.  post results

If you can't open the lid, how do you know the instructions are on the inside?

I still say a power saw and sharp blade, but I'm an idiot.

Of course, I can open a bucket.

Don't worry, it's not the dumbest question ever asked here.
Someone once asked if airsoft guns were loud, as he was afraid they would hurt his ears.

I guess I've never really paid attention.   I don't know either.

Isn't that what tannerite uses?

If the bucket in question has little cut outs all aong the rim, pointing from the center to the edge, you just cut them through.

Take the bucket to an altitude of 12,000' or higher.  The denser air inside the bucket will push out against the lid in the thinner altitude and pop it off.
