Well boys, today is my sixty-second birthday.  I am finally on the right side of Social Security.

I only wish I could draw out for as long as I paid in.

You know I pay your salary don't you?

Congratulations, O_P

Now that us young'uns are paying your way, does that mean you'll be honoring requests for ballistic testing?

At least buy the grandkids a lot of stuff, so the people paying for it will get something out of the deal.

Happy Birthday....kid........

Just don't use any birdshot on your cake..............

I took mine at 62 also....given the state of my health––-or lack thereof––-I may not make it to 65.

Happy birthday OP.

If I remember how it works correctly; you won't actually see a dime until 2 months after your birthday.

My 62nd birthday is in November and I believe I will be eligible to collect benefits in December; the first check of which won't be paid until January.

You paid in, it's yours to take.

I'd rather not have SS, but there are many who would have spent the extra money already

Yep.

Went to  pre-retirement seminar as I approached retirement and they showed mathematically how it was foolish to wait till 65 years old to start to draw it.  You have to live past 85 to even break even for the money you lose between 62 and 65.

But don't tell anybody.

Some of us aren't uber rich web moguls and will have to work until we're 85!

Will your SS buy your ammo?

My in-laws did the math themselves and came to the same conclusion.

Not to mention that who knows what will happen with SS between now and then.

At 62 because it might not be there when you hit 65 ?    Good thinking.
