I am not very sophisticated when it comes to social networking. I have had a facebook acct for years - I do not use my real name or date of birth, rather a nickname.
I log in about once a week, and today I found I cannot log in and Facebook wants me to submit a photo ID to unlock my account???? I have never heard of such a thing, I guess it's goodbye facebook. Is this new? am I retarded? |
Never heard of it. Did you change the name on the account recently? Try doing the forgot password reset feature?
Check the URL just in case you're getting phished.
Edit: Looks like genuine Facebook does use photo ID verification if you don't have a mobile number associated with your account. |

My face book name of Fu Kyou has weathered the storm of the the past few years.

ID required for Facebook but not to vote in this country. Makes sense.
Someone reported your account as fake.
Show ID, or say bye to Facebook. Make sure the URL is actually Facebook. |

They locked my account claiming I'm not using my real name (which I'm not) and made me change it.
I did, to something ridiculous. I'm guessing I will get asked for my ID next. Fuck Facebook! |
If someone tags your account as not being your real name, they will lock it down until you confirm.
my new facebook name will be Mohammed Smith. |
Really? I know they changed some of their stuff, but that's weird. I'd never give them my ID.
I deleted my Facebook account in January. Recently, I started one with a nickname. I got the same message. They want I.D. and my phone number. Nope.
hell just photoshop something like a fake library card or CCW?

I had that happen to me a few years ago to my Don Keypunch account. I just told em to eat my dick and opened another account with a different email. I still don't use my real name.
Never had a Facebook account. Every time I start to think I should start one, I see something like this.
Same happened to one of my friends, he used his company name instead of his real name.
They made him start a new account. Kharn |
Just give them a photo copy of your drivers license, what could go wrong.
You're telling me that Facebook is an NSA data mining machine? The fuck you say...
Too many people will gladly give it to them. Its fucking retarded.
If they really want to ensure only real people are on it , just charge for FB. Plenty of fucktards would pay 20 a month for it. |
They've been doing this for a while on suspicious accounts, it's not new.
In the fine print you agree to when you make an FB account you agree to only use only your real information. If they suspect that you are using a fake name they will lock down your account until you prove your identity. They can't make money off fake information.

The Facebook folks wouldn't like that. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.bugbyte.fakeidgenerator&hl=en |

I have one account with my real name, it has about zero activity other than my sister posting family shit to it. Apparently I have not posted anything since my second post in 2010.
So you have to show a photo ID to use Facebook, but not to vote...got it.

I had a facebook account "Aimless" someone complained I was using a fake name and facebook closed my account and demanded I forward a birth certificate (or something or other) proving my name was really Aimless
I almost made a fake Order of Name Change saying my name was really Aimless but figured that was a good way to get the attorney grievance committee interested in me |

View Quote I didn't know someone's account could be flagged by other users. That sounds ripe for abuse. Or for getting rid of stupid names like "Tony StraightBallin Smith" and "Katrina YOLOSWAG BeautifulDisaster Johnson". |
