I have some REALLY high res pics (800k) that I want to get down to 150k or less so I can host them on the ARFCOM server. I have late model windows XP, so I have paint or whatever. No fancy editing software.

What do I do?

In MS Paint, go to Image and "Stretch/Skew"

Just man up and get yerself Photoshop!

Yeah, it's pretty fancy...but really helpful( especially the "save for web" option.)

Stretch/Skew won't do it - you've got to reduce the resolution by using a program to pull the data the monitor can't see anyway out of the picture.

I use Photopaint. It sucks, but I know it really well, and I couldn't afford $700 for Photoshop at the time I bought it.

I can do them for you, if you want to send them to me. Feel free to IM me.

You changed your avatar. I get used to people by their avatar and when they change it screws me up.

Easiest way in XP is to download the Windows XP PowerToy “Image Resizer” from Microsoft. Then you can resize pictures with a right click. It is a great tool along with some of the other PowerToys and they are free.

Yeah. As Lumpy pointed out, looking at the same .gif for 10000 posts really does get old.

d/l Irfanview...it's free, and allows you to resize, crop, rotate, everything you'll ever really need to do just to post pix on the 'net.

BeetleBailey,

Faststone can batch a task.

So yah, get the program you won't be disapointed.  At free, the price is more than right.

While the free software is generally OK for the simple things like a resize, I recommend Photoshop Elements when you want to really do some manipulation.
