Just watched it. I have to say, it gets my vote for scariest fucking sci-fi movie EVAR. Who else here saw it? Whadidya think? "You know nothing. Hell is only a word. The reality is much, much worse. Here... let me show you!" |
|
I had high hopes for it as well, but then it just turned into basicly a slasher flick which I find mostly boring. The scariest sci fi I ever saw was Alien. It scared me so much that I realised about an hour after I had left the theater that I was still clenching my fists unconsciesly. Scary movie. Zen "This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine" |

The movie really wasn't scary, it was poorly written, it dragged, there was very little suspense and what there was didn't build to proper climaxes, and the gore really got to me. I'll never understand how people can enjoy gore for its own sake, it's a sign of a person who's never seen it in life, or have a damaged soul IMO. Alien was a classic, can't compare the two, EH was more like a freddy krueger movie. |
It was... BASED... on Solaris. Actually, the 1972 Soviet version, Solyaris. Which was based on a book. Which was based on a pretty fucking cool idea. Paul Anderson (AvP, Resident Evil, Soldier, Mortal Kombat) strikes again. |
| Good idea gone horribly wrong. Anytime a movie has to resort to the "dimension of pure evil", the movie sucks. It's like they ran out of good ideas and just started filming stupid crap to make up for the extra time. I would like to see the whole uncut movie though. That might help it some. Is the uncut version on DVD? |
No such animal as an "uncut" version. Paul Anderson has made the "directors cut" vs "stuido cut" argument on many occasions as an excuse for how poor his movies are, and every time, the studio and people who worked on the film have come out and said that no extra film exists for his movies. |
Very interesting. Sounds like he is full of crap. Event horizon could have been the Alien for a new generation, but they blew it. Big time. |

That had to be the scariest movie experience I've ever had. First of all, we got to the theatre late, so the only seats were FRONT ROW. See every last gory detail. Second, I was sitting in between two of my VERY skittish female friends. Imagine having claws digging into your arm every time someone gets cut open. It turns a visual experience into a VISCERAL one! |
That's cold! ...but true.
