Tagging to try
Link Posted: 11/6/2016 10:36:01 AM EST
Great video. Been wanting to try this for a while. Question though, it only stays good for 2 weeks in fridge? What is the best way to get it to last longer, like 6 + months?
Link Posted: 11/6/2016 11:15:56 AM EST
It will last longer if you can vacuum seal it but I like my jerky a little on the softer side. Could dehydrate it some more. It's really all trial and error

First batch came out awesome.

Used a cabellas mix I had on hand.

Put it into 3 Ziploc bags. Son killed one in about a hour.

Great stuff. Your explanation on the cut of beef to use and what to look for was very helpful.

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, you got to be ultra picky when picking out the roasts!

It makes me happy to make others happy :)

This disparaging remark was totally uncalled for. I had my head in my rear-end and obviously wasn't thinking. I apologize and intend to watch the entire video.

Great post I'm absolutely buying one and doing this. My mouth was watering watching this I use to make jerky years ago. But after watching this I'm going out tomorrow and buying a LEM and the spices you used.

I ate so much jery one day. That the next I could barely chew because my teeth and jaws hurt

Great video also really enjoyed watching it....all of it. Really entertaining. Damn I'm hungry

Damn you guys cleaned out Amazon. Went to order the 5 tray Lem and gone. Yesterday they had plenty.

Oh well, went with a 9 tray Excalibur 3900B for alot more I should be able to do 10lbs with this thing. Plus im starting to grow my own Carolina reapers and Trinidan scorpions. Planted them a few weeks ago. Should end up with about 10-14 plants. Will grow in pots inside till spring. Love me some dried superhots.

Thanks OP. I had a nesco dryer for a long time and its been ok, but limited in the amount it can handle. I do my jerky pretty much the same way with some spice variations.

Bump for those who may have missed it.

Nice vid...I've been doing jerky for about 20 years off and on...went from a Little Chief to a Green Mt. Smoker.

One tip: Costco sells pre sliced (carne) or will slice your roast on-site if you ask.

Going to try the High Mtn. spice mix.

Looks really tasty.

I like my jerky cut with the grain to provide more chew. Have you tried that?

Link Posted: 11/18/2016 12:11:12 PM EST
no, i just cut it typically like i do in the video but that's a good point!
