Title says it all. Do you keep some on hand or stick with your choice of 55 gr. stuff? Indoor ranges around here won't allow it and I have 1,000 rounds sitting I will probably never shoot. Thought about offloading it to make room for one of those cheap cases of 193 that are coming and pocketing some cash.

Thoughts?

I keep lots of M855 and M193.

I've shot M855 at an indoor range before and didn't have any problems, I wouldn't make a habit out of it.

Apart from a magazine full of deer slaying ammo it's all I keep around. I loves green tips.

Yup.  My KAC loves hotter loads, and I stacked it deep for classes.

I have none. No use for it either. I am not limited to the Haig accord for my ammo.

My go-to rounds are Speer Gold Dot in every firearm.

I shoot the 55 grain ammo at the range and would do the same during classes.

Indeed. Green tips are best tips.

Yes, just the tips though.

I keep a fair bit of both around. I don't really shoot indoors though, so that is not a problem.

I like 855 for shooting up appliances and other random large objects we manage to drag out to our property.

I try to buy green tip exclusively. Other then indoor ranges is there ANY reason not to make it my standard round to stack deep?

I guess the fact that other than an isolated sale, 193 is going for around $275 per thousand while 855 is still around $400.

That is my motivating factor.

Isn't that like crossing the streams? I got rid of all my m193 so there would be potential for confusation.

15 min to indoor range vs >1hr to an outdoor range. I'd prefer to shoot outdoors if I had a closer place to do it.

M855 you say?  Who would want that shit?

I traded a can of 855 and a S&W 22a for a rifle a while back.

So yeah I *might* have a can or three stashed.

Mainly stick to 55's due to price.

But I chiefly shoot handloads anyways.  68/69s and 55 Nosler the majority of the time.

I have one of those 150 round boxes.  The rest is all 55 grain.  A little of that are hollow points.

1000 rounds.

It's the bulk of my plinking ammo.   I find a deal on about 1000 rounds and when it gets down to a few hundred, I load up again.

I've had less than stellar results with 55 and 62 grain Speer gold dot when shooting pigs.  193 works better than gold dot IMO

Since we're on the subject, what's the general consensus on M855A1? Worth stockpiling or should one stick to M855 green-tip?

ETa: Disregard. I did some googling and apparently the M855A1 sucks.

About 40% of my stash is XM855 with another 40% being XM193. The last 20% is home rolled 223 which is what I shoot. I save the good stuff just in case.

I try to keep half of each equally in my stash.

I have 76 loaded mags of it, about a 1/2 dozen of IMI 77gr OTM, and another 1/2 dozen 64 Gr Ranger soft tips. I also have a boatload of cheapy 55gr that I use for practice.

The majority of what I have is 855, most of it RORG. I had some 193, but shot it all up. So now all my 55gr stuff is PMC, Federal or Tula .223. Most of the Mags I keep loaded are full of 855, then I have some mags loaded with 60 gr V-max handloads.

855 is $300-320/1000. Not sure where you got $400 from.

I have had my AR rifle since '96 and have never fired a factory round through it, so no.
