[ARCHIVED THREAD] - CCW (Page 1 of 3)

Gonna be honest here...I have a CCW license, but rarely carry. I carry a knife everyday, but it's more for cutting tape than people. I carry a firearm while travelling to unfamiliar areas or when I get the gut feeling I need to...other than that, I've got my tape cutting knife.
So GD, do you carry daily? If not, when do you carry? |

Poll needs a "where and when I can" option.

I really couldn't carry 24/7 if I wanted to. I work in a setting where carrying a gun is illegal. Even if it were legal to carry in a school, I probably wouldn't. I find that I am 'much more alert' when I am carrying and that added level of 'alertness' really wouldn't be conducive to interacting with kids. (short version)
When I am not working, I carry when I feel like it. |

Daily; no bullshit. I find that odd, since you're in FL. I know many people do, but I don't wear enough in the summer to be able to conceal much. I've got the P232, and that's about all I'm willing to try and hide in the summer...even in CO.![]() G26 + MTAC will stay hidden in shorts and even relatively non-baggy shirts. ...and this. Quoted:
Whenever it's lawful to do so. |

Very very rarely. As an LEO, it amazes me that you rarely carry off duty (I think I heard you say that once before not long ago). It's none of my business and I don't mean any offense, but I just can't get my mind around that. I respect your choices though, whatever they may be. |
I almost always have a long gun with me, since i'm rarely ever far from my pickup . The only time I ever have a handgun with me is when i'm riding four wheeler. Both of these are more for hunting purposes than anything. I live in a predominantly rural area though.

So GD, do you carry daily? If not, when do you carry? If I could carry on post, I would. When I'm off duty, off post, and in civi's I have my gun on me, with limited exception. I'm looking at getting a keltec 9mm for pocket carry for those limited situations. |

The very rare times when I need a pistol with shorter grips for concealment under tighter fitting tucked, dress shirts than I normally wear I'll carry an M&P 9c; maybe five or six days a year. But it is second nature to me to carry a large frame pistol every day under only a tee shirt as a cover garment. No bullshit. |

One speed strip in the other pocket just in case. It's not 14 rounds like my Springfield XD40 but 5 rounds of .357 Magnum (plus reload) does not make me feel unarmed. |

| It is a pain to put on a full rig and find the right clothes to conceal it everyday. That's why you see a rising popularity in pocket pistols these days, much easier to just grab you pistol and put it in your pocket with a pocket holster. I carry my 1911 everyday for work though. On my days off I usually just carry my Rohrbaugh 9mm pocket pistol. |

I try to carry everywhere else, though.
