So when is Bush gonna open the tap on the reserves?

Does it matter if you can't refine it?

Damn, I guess I'm not going home for the weekend. I can't count on aquiring the 40 or so gallons that would take.

Out of the 149 refineries in the US,  17 are located in Louisiana.  9 of those are shut down due to the hurricane and 4 others are at reduced capacity resulting in a 10% loss of  production.

I did the AM/PM Sea-Tac after work, no problems. Brisk business, but not overrun. 2.75 a gallon.

Here in MD, assholes started internet chain email rumors that all gas stations in the state would be ordered closed at 4:00pm.  Well, you can imagine the lines, they even showed them on fox news.  The Governer has been on the radio repeatedly stating the rumor is false, but that almost fuels the fire.

They need to find who starts these things.  I'm sure they are doing it on purpose, to cause a gas shortage.

Luckly, I live in a rural area and haven't seen any problems myself.

Saw it on the news.

And some jack ass jacked the price up to over 7 per gallon.  acouple of hours later he was forced to lower it back down to around the 3$ mark.

Gas dropped here from $3.29 (yesterday 7 AM) down to $3.14 (yesterday 10 PM)

Hopefully it'll continue to drop, of course it'll be slower than it went up though.

I'm good for about 3 weeks.   I could go longer if I siphon from my truck instead of driving that gas hog.   Hopefully by the time I really need fuel thing's will settle down a bit.

yesterday the PX was out of reg and mid grade, down the road the place I normally go was out of midgrade.    Until yesterday, I haven't seen a gas station out of gas in ages.

I would think if some of that reserve was sent to the operating refineries..htey could make up the 10%..or some of it anyway.
Man that really is a piss off. They lose 10% or their refining capabilities and jack the price up through the roof.

Problem is all refineries are running at about full output , no room to increase .   Couple that with a major supply pipeline that feeds the east coast that had a power supply problem, {which is suppose to be fixed this weekend} , we end up with shortages in some areas.

Refinery output and demand has been balanced on a knife edge for sometime now, Katrina tipped that balance.

Are all the refineries in the US along the Gulf coast?

No, Billings has some.

what would it matter if everyone was out of gas. Nobody would be able to go to work anyways and if everyone goes nuts  just stay home and lock and load. Why worry about it. If you have a gun then you will be able to eat.
