I'm watching the end of "Open Range"... probably seen the movie a half dozen times or so... never get tired of watching the shootout at the end.
Might have to rate it the very best I've seen... I dig the finale to "The Shootist" too... another favorite of mine. What you got? |

I gotta say the one where Al Pacino uses that gun. Nice choice, but we're talking Westerns. Best make peace with your bad deeds. |

Pretty much all of The Outlaw Josey Wales.
And yeah, the end of Open Range is damn good, too. |
|
The Magnificient Seven had a couple of fair ones. Broken Trail has a decent one; both versions of Monte Walsh had 'em too.
Unforgiven, Pale Rider, Shane, High Noon. The Outlaw Josey Wales stands alone. |

Not a fan of westerns, but I watched 4:10 to Yuma many times.
Open range could have been a million times better without Kevin Kosner in it. I put him on the same level as nick cage |

Once Upon a Time in the West. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The Outlaw Josey Wales. Scene at 4:19 - my favorite part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hvf8r3cX3vo Before my cap and ball revolver got stolen, I used to try that move. Never got close. |

what about the wild bunch? Maxim Love. Wild bunch is the shootout all others are judged by. |

Unforgiven was great but not necessarily because of the shooting, but Clint being such a bad ass mofo.

|

Then again I don't watch a lot of movies |

The recent Tom Skerritt remake of High Noon was surprisingly good...great gunfight at the end.
Good honorable mention to Quigley Down Under. |
|
anyone ever see that movie with johnny cash and kirk douglas? the gunfight was amazing cuz the entire movie led up to it...

For A Few Dollars More...
Lee van Cleef and Clint Eastwood shoot each others hats all to hell. Nobody dies but it's pretty badass. |
|
The Terrence Hill quick draw scenes in the Trinity movies. Besides, those movies contained enough bean scenes to make them the best western movies ever.

Interesting trivia about Once Upon a Time in the West: Clint Eastwood turned down the part that Charles Bronson eventually wound up playing. In spite of my avatar, my vote goes to The Wild Bunch. What a fantastic movie. |
