He's just a really rich guy with cool toys and advanced martial arts training.

Fights crime = super hero

see also; the Punisher

Agreed.  He's a vigilante.

He's also a genius; so you could say his intellect is a super power.

Batman<Ironman
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 8:31:57 AM EDT
So Ironman/Tony Stark isn't one either?

Correct.  Punisher also NOT a superhero.  Antihero, vigilante, or hero, depending on punisher or batman.  No super powers, no super hero.

Nope, again, really rich guy, really smart, really cool toys, not a "Super" hero.

He also has a really raspy voice. It gets kind of annoying after a while.

Money is a super power damnit!
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 8:42:10 AM EDT
You are correct. He may be the "world's greatest detective" but he's still just a dude.
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 8:42:22 AM EDT
He is the world's greatest detective.

Now all super powers are lasers and shit...

Being a super genius and being the world's greatest detective would make him a "super hero".

Link Posted: 8/28/2015 8:45:53 AM EDT
If money is your argument then you've cut like half of the superheros down.

OP has money, he's not a real poster

Exactly.

The punisher would be a "super" killer.
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 8:54:09 AM EDT
Can riches be a super power? Batman wouldn't be Batman without the gadgets. The gadgets come from the money.

If not, fine, he's not a superhero. He's still a badass. And possible.
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 8:55:32 AM EDT
Don't confuse super hero with one that holds super powers.

You can be a super hero without super powers.

Just because you have super powers does not make you a super hero.

Superman is not a super hero, He is just a regular dude where he comes from.

He is actually an illegal alien.
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 9:32:05 AM EDT
I thought Bane was the hero of the last film.

Batman's super power is his super-preparedness.
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 9:43:44 AM EDT
He has cool toys, martial arts training, good reflexes and is like Timex, takes a beating and keeps on ticking.

Let's see if he can do that when he reaches middle age.  Beer Gut Batman.

I'm in the same boat mostly. However, I've grown to like Aquaman. It's surprising how duo the character actually is.

you guys are a bunch of badasses. Yeah batman is a super hero

How about we stop making comic book hero movies?  Batman is cool, but the nonstop Avengers/Fantastic Four/etc is just annoying.

He's also a passive-aggressive pussy.

Sure, he'll go all Jackie Chan on some POS but he won't actually pull the trigger on a bad guy and remove a threat. He has no problem with letting them die by their own hand while he stands around scratching his bat-ass and preaching some sanctimonious bullshit.

Michael Keaton does not have a raspy voice, and he is Batman.

...and Batman is a masked vigilante and a skilled detective with great intellect.
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 10:06:28 AM EDT
In a technical sense no, he's not a superhero. He's by definition a vigilante.

SWEAR TO ME!

*hack...cough*
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 10:24:01 AM EDT
I've always defined a comic superhero as someone who battles evil with abilities beyond what a normal person could possess. It doesn't matter if it came from a serum, radiation, etc. or they were born with it.
Link Posted: 8/28/2015 10:27:35 AM EDT

Correct, he's not a superhero, he's a vigilante.

The fact that he is not a superhero and still manages to kick ass is why I find him to be super fucking awesome!

Batman could totally wipe the floor with Superman. Just put bits of kryptonite all up in his bat suit.

Pretty much...except Bruce Wayne could get his hands on kryptonite.

I'm not sure I'd be able to track any down, or purchase it.

Superman would have killed batman in the comics..he held back however.

Batman came very prepared...

But at the end of the day...one on one fight...Superman is going to win.

If you ever played Marvel Superheros in the 90s (a lot like a D&D game), their definition of a hero is someone who does the right thing at the right time.  Their definition of a super hero is someone that does it with super powers.  Basically having super powers has nothing to do with being a hero.

When they stop making money hand over fist, they will.

They're printing money right now, so you might as well get used to it.
