I have all I need in the AR15 department. Made my purchases before the 2008 run. Now im thinking about a Remington 700.
I have a .308 AR so im thinking about a 700 in .308win. What about .223? Seeing as it is not for hunting the cheaper round might be better for target shooting. Is there a model I should look for or a version I should try to find? Im not a big time hunter but do love going to the range and punching paper. So that's what this thing would be doing. Thanks |

I just got the Rem 700 XCR compact tactical in .308 with Loopy glass. I took 3 deer with it this year. Absolutely amazing rifle out of the box. Sub MOA using 168gr BTHP from Federal.

I have the long varminter, fluted SS barrel with synth stock. It's basic, but accurate. I have a Leupold VX2 on it until I decide I really like long range shooting. It's a big gun though.

I did but sold it for a savage. Was a 700 adl
ETA: the why, I bought it on Black Friday as I wanted to get into long range shooting. but knew right away it wasn't everything I wanted. Regretted it right off the bat. Sold it, spent a little more for what I consider a much better weapon for my price range and needs. Not trying to sway you or bash the 700. |
|
I have a 700 PSS.
The why is my friend's wife didn't want him to keep it in their house so I stored it for him in my safe. Then he moved to Texas. 7 years ago. We talked about it a couple of weeks ago, he said "keep it." So that's how I got it. |

Do not get a Remington 770 series total crap. On the other hand any remington 700's are good i have one in 30-06

I got the AAC version because it has a 1/10 twist, was threaded from the factory, and I got a deal on it from a fellow Ohio forum member buying used.

Got this back in 95. If I knew then what I know now I would have gone with a shorter barrel' other than that it has been awesome. Sub MOA out to 800. http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd461/jakoury256/P1090253.jpg http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd461/jakoury256/P1090254.jpg trade you the stock for my 5 3 2 pmags |

Same as mine and gets my vote on what you should buy. Because it's that badass. On a serious note, I lapped the bbl, bedded the action and added 2.75lbs to the stock and she will out shoot my buddies MUCH more expensive guns. |

got a pss this year in .308
great gun and I have had some fun taking it out to so long distance stuff 800-1000 yard to a mile ( mile stuff wasn't easy at all) |
|
Had a 700 VSSF in .308 years ago. BORINGLY accurate. Sold it for some stupid reason. I'm ready to be bored again.
|
|
I have the 700P with a Leupold scope and it's a fun time at the range.

700 PSS DM A buddy needed cash, so.. what the hell, I bought his LNIB 700 PSS DM for $400. |
|
A 700 PSS assigned and a 700P that's mine. The P is NIB waiting to start the process of a build. The PSS is getting ready to retire and be replaced by a OBR.

Rem. 700 LTR would be my choice.
I had an ADL in 308 built in the late 70s that shot tiny little groups...it was too pretty to tear apart. My friend still razzes me for selling it. |
|
I have a Remington 700 LTR. They make a lot of sense because they are short, not really heavier than a sporter, but will shoot 1/2 groups at 100 yards like a varminter. When I bought it all my buddies made fun of me. Now they have them too. A standard PSS is too heavy to walk around with. The LTR will shoot as well and is a walk around gun.

Yes, Remington 700 308 tactical aac 1-10 I run it with a YHM 308 can. Very smooth rig.
My 12 yo son just killed a nice cow elk with it last weekend. |
|
I have a Remington 700 SPS Tactical. It has a Hogue stock and a short 20" barrel which were features I liked.

I have a Rem 700 VLS in .308, I'd probably look at a Savage for the accutrigger or a CZ if I was in the market. 700's are great rifles but there are other options out there.

I bought a Remington 700 VS years ago. Was a tack driver.
Few years ago I went the custom route and replaced the stock, barrel etc. Wish I did that from day one. Ill post pics if u want. |

700 5r milspec
it is the one to buy if you don't want to dick with it. out of the box and done. no mods needed |

700 ADL Varmint in .308 26 inch barrel. bought it at Cocksuckers (formerly dicks) as a black friday special.
|
|
I have just a plain ole 700 ADL in .308. It has taken several white tail and hogs being fed a diet of either Federal Premium 168gr. or more recently Winchester BST 168gr. Light, simple, deadly.
|
|
My 700 is a Sendero in .300 Win Mag. Heavy beast!
My .308 is a Winchester, but I'd love to add another 700... |
|
|
I have a 700 SPS-V in .308, which I believe is what many police departments use. It even has "LE" marked on the barrel, which is a heavy contour. It shoots like a champ. I pulled the crappy synthetic stock off of it and replaced it with a bell & carlson.

I have the 700 XCR Tactical Long Range in .308 and I love it. I was shooting 800 yards the 1st time I got to shoot it and hitting good. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/SearcherforTruth/100_1993.jpg
I loved it so much I bought my son one in .223, but we have only got to shoot his out to 100 yards. Yowza!! Very nice rifle, dude.. |
|
I've got two 700P's, one in .308 and one in .223. FWIW the .223 sits in the safe 9 out of 10 range trips. Many times I wish I had just bought the .308 and spent the extra $$$ on having one really kick ass rifle instead of two kick ass rifles.

|
I have a Rem 700 SPS Composite in .308. I bought it primarily due to cost, and secondly due to purpose.
I spent $420 on it. It's a BDL and I knew I would immediately replace the stock. I put a B&C Medalist stock on it immediately. I'm not using it for competition so I didn't feel the need for a heavy barrel. I use it for hunting only. I do think the barrel is too long, it's either 24 or 26 inches and is the sporter profile. |
