2112........keeps me sane
Link Posted: 3/11/2005 9:23:34 PM EST
Hell yes, back in the day.

The only time I saw them was in 1980, but it was front row seats so it was great.

Three of the best rock musicians of all time.

YYZ, baby!

Moving Pictures - one of my favorites.
Link Posted: 3/11/2005 10:08:12 PM EST
when the majic of Tom Sawyer, Limelight, and Red Barchetta wears off...listen to 'Camera Eye.' It's (arguably) the best song on Moving Pictures.
Link Posted: 3/11/2005 10:16:22 PM EST
Oh Hell yes! Best rock band ever.

I got to see them in 1992. Front row in Nurnburg FRG. What a show.

Manhattan project is one of my favorites.

Another old Fart here and still into Rush Bigtime... They been going strong for 30 + years ... Hate to date myself but I think I was a Freshman in high school when Fly by Night came out (1974???)... Seen them twice back in the day. God only knows when that was , it's all a blur now.... 2112 is a great tune to run too.... It can really fire me up! I just had to fire up some Rush on the MP3 player. What better things to do at 4am.. My 17 years old boy is really into Rush. He's got gun powder in this veins too.. He's such a good boy! Does his father proud!

It would be sweet to see someone lay some great machine gun video on top of 2112 audio!!!
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 12:25:33 AM EST
I still listen to them, but my interest dropped off after counterparts.
My favorite stuff is all pre Presto.

I do like some of their later stuff, but early Rush is just awesome music,

Went to every concert from Moving Pictures to Counterparts...

I like the old stuff, I like most of the new stuff.

"Yes children it's true: a long time ago, back before they played rap music and the VJ's didn't look like street thugs, MTV actually played Rush..." I remember they had a video for Vital Signs. Never saw any others played, were there?

I like Countdown too.

Funny way to title this thread: Before I got into the Clash and Ramones - Rush was one of my favorite bands - they came probably right after Cheap Trick.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 2:58:11 PM EST
Big fan of the band. Caress of Steel is my fav, though it's hard to not include Moving Pictures in that satement. Funny thing about Camera eye, I was in a band a couple of years back and we played Camera Eye in a bar. We absolutely nailed it! Not a soul knew what just happened they all just sat there kind of stunned. The sound man that was on that night was a rush fan I though he was going to have a freakin heart attack. Never played it again. Playing Rush seems to be a hit or miss prospect when playing out. Just my opinion. YMMV

"Working Man". Favorite, best, no equal, hands down, end of story.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 3:04:19 PM EST
I get home at five o'clock,
And I take myself out a nice, cold beer.
Always seem to be wonderin'
Why there's nothin' goin' down here.

Well they call me the working man.
I guess that's what I am.

I have been into rush for years.

A previous thread went into Rush and their Ayn Rand influences - because of that I now have Atlas Shrugged sitting on my shelf. Now I just need to put some time aside to read it

Read the Fountainhead. Atlas Shrugged is a 1000 page set up for a 40 page speech. It's a damn good speech, but still.

Been listening to them for about 25 years. Skilled musicians, and they have been my favorite band for a long time.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 3:31:14 PM EST
You have to get Rush in Rio just to watch those Brazilians freaking out to YYZ. The rest is awesome, but that one moment just blew me away.

+1
I used to listen to them 27 years ago. Are they still alive?
Great band, but all of those intergalactic lyrics started to bore the xanadu out of me.

Working Man, Lakeshore Drive, Fly By Night...........wow. where'd I put that bong?
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 3:55:46 PM EST
2112 album was awesome , most of their other music was shit.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 4:02:42 PM EST
Rush was awesome back in the day, no doubt!
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 4:07:24 PM EST
"and the meek shall inherit the earth......" da da-dada da da-dada da da-dada da da daaaa...

saw them live in fayetteville NC for the Hemispheres tour - "trouble with the maples and they're quite convinced they're right"........

that was probably the only concert there that i saw the adudience actually paying attention to the stage en mass.
they did their Hemispheres tunes and did the entire 2112 set - absolutely awesome.
