I highly suspect that most of the people able to do this will be way down in SoCal, far far away from me.

The bend. The bit where California "bends" along the Nevada border. That's what I call it anyway.

Redding or somewhere in between wouldn't be bad.

Been hunting with jk_pyre a handful of times now. Found some arfcommers (not very active) last weekend.

Also, part of the cola wars.

To be clear the training tge mentioned was a rifle and pistol class. It wasn't a hike like what the Op mentioned.

However since he put my name on blast I've received several IMs and mentions in this thread with people being interested. let me see if I can try to organize something somewhere. Perhaps Lake Ray Roberts. I might wait until after the holidays given that everyone is probably pretty busy between now and then. That will give me some time to organize an event.

Med classes are good.

Please don't neglect hikes or other physically demanding get togethers- we need to be fit to fight.

Go for it man.  Like I said I'm on vacation in South Carolina.  Haven't had time to do much research.

I did however grow up on a dry empty piece of land that would be Lake Ray Roberts

Corrected OP with a link to standards through the old guy categories. Get some!
Wait - is swimming a requirement?  If so, that's going to be logistically difficult.

The sit-ups, push-ups and running parts are pretty lax for 50+ farts like me.
Oh no, the swim is an alternative to the run!
Oh I'm way in.  Did not know this.

So that's an either-or with the running or swimming? Any of the two swims or the run?
Correct. You must do situps and push ups, but can choose to either run or swim.

That sounds interesting. My only fear is there are people that would be willing to do a day hike but don't have nods so they wouldn't be able to participate. maybe the first time we do a day hike and then we set up a night hike as a separate event.

It would be neat if someone had land we could do this all on and combined carrying rifles and shooting. if you would hurry up and hit the lotto we can make that work

Knob hills trail is a13 mile loop, with many options for to shorten it. It's a MTB trail so the terrain varies from rocky/hilly to flat next to the creek. Just north of Roanoke.

Just be aware that is located on ACE land and as such you can't carry a hand guns or rifles on the property. Shotguns are allowed but only when hunting with an issued permit.

Another option is LBJ grasslands out by Decatur. They have 75 miles of trails and shotguns can be carried without permit requirements. But its hunting season and public lands are being heavily used right now, hunter orange is a great idea.

Congrats to @WhiskersTheCat of the NOVA Battle Buddies on being the first to complete the requirements for his Battle Buddy Piss Cutter.  He more than exceeded the minimum pace requirement on his final required hike, averaging 16:07 per mile, 33 seconds per mile under the passing pace!
