The bolt hold open for the NATO hammer pack is longer. You may be able to use it as is but it may not hold the bolt open on the last round or maybe hold it open before the mag is empty.
I'm doing to opposite, putting a AUG stock on my AXR. Not because anything is wrong, but just to say I did. My thread My other thread |

The NATO stocks and hammer packs are imported. I'm not sure which parts on the A3 are made here. If those same A3 parts are imports also, and were swapped for another imported part, probably won't be a problem. Again, I'm not sure about the parts count in the A3. It may not need any additional parts. TPD sells a U.S. made trigger and disconnector for the NATO stocks. These along with a U.S. made AR mag would be 5 U.S. made parts. |

WARNING:
Old Nato Stock will not fit on the A3!!! I wanted to do the same thing and save a few hundred $$ on mags but after consulting with the engineers at Steyr was told that the OLD NATO STOCK WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE A3. It was not a trigger pack issue but rather that the old stock was not compatible with the longer new top rail. At least that is how I remember it. Call Steyr and ask them before purchasing. Just trying to save you some dough, unless they have a new NATO STOCK??

| I am pretty sure there was a post not too long ago about doing this. IIRC the guy bought the NATO stock from Pete and couldn't get it to fit. Pete offered to fit it for him but he figured it out on his own. I couldn't find it with a search (it may be in the black hole now). I'll try to search later. |

I too saw that thread, the NATO stock fit after te hump and some internal material was removed |
