I won a USR stock on GB. I would like to use this with my AXR. I think it would be pretty cool to have the choice of both types of mags. Kent sells a US made trigger and sear lever for the AUG as compliance parts. These are the parts in the stock, not in the hammer pack. I'm looking to make this 922 compliant with both MSAR (US made) or Austrian mags.
Do the A3 hammer packs have any US markings on them? If so, will they fit in an earlier stock? Do the new AUG mags (supposedly US made) have US markings on them? Can the NATO hammer pack be used in the AUG/USR stock if the bolt hold open is changed? Are the internal components of the NATO hammer pack the same as others? |

Are the internal components of the NATO hammer pack the same as others? Not sure if the A3 pack will work in an older stock. It has the bolt release lever protruding from the front-bottom. You can use the NATO hammer pack as-is in the USR stock and it will lock the bolt to the rear. The NATO bho is a little longer is all, so it will work with the AUG mags. Everything else should be the same. I commend you for your efforts, but I wouldn't get too wrapped around the axle about 922r. |

Thanks for the replies, I'm just trying to figure out my options.
It's good to know that the NATO hammer pack will work. This project may have just gotten less expensive. 
ETA: Are the Austrian mags marked with country of origin? Any noticable difference between Austrian and US AUG mags? |

OK, I spoke with Kent today. We counted the number of imported parts on my AXR, and I only have six that are on the list. This means that I can replace the trigger and sear lever in the USR stock and be well within 922r compliance even with Austrian mags.  It's cool that Kent helped you step that one out. USRs are great, because they were so evil even after the thumbhole stock that Clinton and Reno had them added to the ban list by name. They feared that rifle and I think if you can own something that makes Janet Reno stay up at night than that's awesome.

Kent has always been very helpful and willing to answer any questions that I have had. I really wish him luck and hope that he has a successful future with the AXR platform.
I'm planning on de-thumbholing the stock for use on my AXR. I just think it would be cool to have the option of the AR mags or AUG type mags (mostly 42rd mags ). Plus I couldn't pass up bidding on the USR stock for the price.
I have been seeing quite a few USR stocks and barrels on GB lately. I wonder what the owners are doing? Are they converting them to a pre-ban configuration? Seems to me it would be cheaper to de-thumbhole their stock and have someone thread their barrel instead of out right replacing them? Either way, Kent has the parts to help with converting them to a pre-ban configuration. |
