They can use a better printed manual, in light of how much it costs

Now that is a tempting piece of merchandise. (Gawdam you to hell, Grant).

Can you tell me if that little cutie will slide in behind an EO on a LaRue mount?

Please be advised: If your answer is 'yes', I will enclose the bill from my bankruptcy attorney along with my check for the unit.

well if you want my two cents,i work in the industry and this is the best unit out there, compact , lightweight, good controls. bad news is that they are hard to get right now and demand is high.

This unit is identical to the US Night Vision 14 (USNV-14).

Insight designed/built this unit for USNV, and it has been on the commercial market for a couple of years already through USNV.

Now Insight is selling this under their own brand name.

edit to add: BTW, there was a guy selling this at EE weeks ago for $3K in mint.

So the PVS-14 and the ITT 6015 are the Tacpoints of the NV world?

C'mon guys, what happened to world peace?

It is a good unit. Overall design reflects the improvement of the PVS-14.

Interesting to know you have tried it in TWN (Taiwan?).

A bit off of the NV topic, but in regards to Insight Technologies:

Insight makes the H&K pistol weapon light, which gets rather rave reviews. I own one (marked Insight rather than H&K), and its a well made unit. Any idea/info on Insight giving Surefire a run for their money on the rifle/carbine weapon light?

All the Insight stuff I have used has been top notch. (see possible disclaimer at bottom)

We have a few of the 9500's here and they are sweet ( a PEQ2 with vis laser in the place of the IR aimer).

Did Insight make the white ligth off the original SOPMOD M4? - cause that one sucked...

Funny something like this comes along and the be all end all in NVDs is now second rate.

I have started down the PVS 14 / 6015 path and will likely stay there for the simple reason that I have acquired an amount for spare parts for the things and I can repair them to a degree, up to and includes repair of cracked housings.

Also The PRI M69 mount is in my opinion the best way to mount a NVD onto any weapon. The ability to adjust the height of the NVD on the rail (to clear BUIS) is now in my opinion mandatory. So unless this thing will work in the current method of mounting PVS 14s i.e. head, helmet, and M69 mount I would have to acquire all of those items as well which could tack on another $300.00 or more clams to the already step price tag.

I just can't change horses in the middle of this stream for the simple reason of cost. The 14 is at the moment good enough for me and while admittedly it isn't the most rugged NVD going, however it is in WIDE use in the Middle East with good results. So that being said I wish I could spring for the MUM but it just ain’t in the cards anytime soon.

Sorry could not resist.

I think Chen hit the nail on the head - very few of us will be using our own kit to go in harms way.
However the benifit of the capitalist system allows those of us who wish to purchase items that we dont NEED - but we WANT.

Insight had the most kick ass Thermal Sight at ou Sniper Concentration last year (but 30K USD) - do I need it NO - do I want it --> Damn Right (unfortunately I am a poor underpayed gov't employee)

How much are MSTN selling those MUM for?

If it is aound $3.5 to $4K, I think it is still a good deal.

A newest PVS-14D costs as much as $4.7 to 5K commercial price these days.

That's actually close enough in price to the 6015 to consider. I mean, if you're going to spend $2750 for a NOD, you might as well get a vastly superior one for $300 more. And yes, I'm saying this with a ton of hands on with the 6015 AND 14D. And then there's still the availability issue with the 6015...

Sorry about the math, I just woke up. Still at $3150, it's a great deal.

And where are the 6015s available for right now at $2650? No one that I contacted (less than a month ago) had them in stock with no idea on arrival date.
