I'm ordering tools tonight for my first build. Wondering what all I need to get. A buddy of mine said to check out Brownell's and get roll pin punches, files, and vices. I'm just not sure what punches to get and is there a press to go with it? and what kind of files? (Brownells has 3 different kinds of ceramic but I don't know what I need) Thank's y'all. I tried a search but cannot get the search feature to work. Says no results for everything I search.

You need a few punches, a vice block, a barrel nut wrench, a castle nut wrench, and a torque wrench.

there is no press for the punches you hit them with a hammer!

Get yourself an armorer's wrench. The Gem State armory one is excellent. I bought one and am very happy.

Buy a set of roll pin punches they work better than regular punches.

A small ball peen hammer or brass hammer is good. 8 oz or less.

You need a vise.

You will want the block that goes in magazine well to hold it in the vise.

Get the upper clamshell holder too or better yet a Geiselle reaction rod.

If you need files you bought some junk parts or have done something wrong.

Never hurts to have a small pick and jeweler's screwdriver set.

A set of allen wrenches can be handy to have around.

If you are just assembling a lower and buying an upper that is already barreled, then you just need a couple punches and a hammer.

All I needed for my lower was armorer's wrench for the castle nut, a set of punches (Roll and flat), a small hammer, tape so I didn't mess up the lower and patience.
