I had considered selling my Rock River lower on here a while back, but after my wife getting on me (yes, she actually got mad because of how much I talked about building it and everything else), I decided to finish the build.

I ordered my upper from Pete at Legal Transfers the last of April.  He said he submitted the order to Rock River the first of this month.  When I got home the other day, my wife said UPS had came.  I though it was something she had ordered, but to my surprise, it was a box from Rock River.  I was all giddy like a kid in a candy store.

Well, here she is.  Nothing special.  Just a basic mid-length.

RRA Lower - Ordnance Outsellers (form SigForum)
RRA 16" Mid-Length Chrome-Lined Upper - Legal Transfers
RRA Trigger Kit - Adco Firearms
RRA Dominator Mount - Legal Transfers
RRA Collapsible Stock - Adco Firearms
JP Enterprises Reduced Power Hammer/Trigger Springs - Brownells
Hogue Grip - MidwayUSA
EOTech 512 Rev F - SKD Tactical

I also have made a sling from the post "Make your own tac sling for 10 bucks", just not on the rifle when I took the picture.  Turned out pretty good.  I actually got the hardware and the strap for free.

When I get the money, a set of handguards will be next.  I am debating on whether to go with Rock River's version, or the Surefire.  I also have a Yankee Hill Phantom flash hider that I still need to install, just haven't done it yet.  I will be going to the range on Monday.

I browse this board a lot, and have learned a great deal of info from the people here.  I just do not post a lot.

Kudos to Pete at Legal Transfers.  He is an awesome guy to do business with, and took the time to answer a lot of my questions (and several phone calls aggravating him with questions before I placed my order).hased

Great looking build.

My current project, correction, one of my current projects, is an A2 upper with a 14.5" middy, coupled to a perm. att. Phantom FH.

I like the look of the middy more and more.  Good choice IMO.

What are you building next? hr

My next build will be the .308 whenever Rock River has them ready for shipment.

It all depends on whether I build or not on my next one.  If the price is real close, I will buy from Pete at Legal Transfers.  I would rather build.  I had a great time doing this one.  Plus, the satisfaction of knowing that I put this thing together, and I learned a lot more of the rifle than I thought I knew.

I had owned a Bushmaster 20" A2 a couple of years ago, but I had to get rid of it, and others, for financial reasons.  I regret doing it.  I have vowed to never sell another gun again.   I am slowly replacing the guns I sold, plus aquiring some new ones as I go along!

Well, I went to the range today.  Or at least my make-do range.  My mom and step-dad own about 8 acres of land about an hour away.  My step-dad came by today, and we loaded our tiny arsenal and headed out that way.

I shot about 50 rounds through my Remington 870.  I was using Remington 7 shot and 8 shot.  It was ammo I got from Wal-Mart.  I did have about 7 or 8 rounds that I had a problem with.  After I fired that round, I couldn't get the bolt open.  I grabbed the slide and yanked it pretty good.  It was the brass of the case that was sticking in the chamber/barrel.  It only did it a few times, but didn't seem to be a major problem.  I will break it down and clean it tomorrow and do a complete inspection.  I cleaned the AR tonight, and I am hurting (herniated discs in back).

I only ran 3 30 round mags and 3 20 round mags through the AR today.  I still had 3 more of each magazine loaded, but by the time we got around to shooting it, my back was killing me.  It functioned flawlessly!  I was a little nervous at first, being my first build.  That very first shot, I was a little hesitant, but after that first shot, I had a blast.  On that first shot, my step-dad was picking with me about building my rifle, and he got way behind me.  I guess he was a little nervous also!  Damn, I forgot how fast those barrels can heat up!  The strangest thing was that the EOTech sight DID NOT NEED ADJUSTMENT!  I was dead on accurate!  I have never had that happen on any rifle before that I had a scope or red dot sight mounted to it.  I thought it was maybe a fluke after that first shot, but it was dead on every time.  I was using the Wolf brass cased ammo that I got from The Sportsman’s Guide.  I have seen a lot of people praise this ammo, and I have seen people bad-mouth Wolf.  I did not have one problem at all.  Granted, I only shot 150 rounds of it today.  I would have shot more, but my back was telling me to call it quits for the day.  I still have another 3300+ rounds, so I have plenty of time/ammo!  I know that I only shot 150 rounds, but the rifle was surprisingly clean using the Wolf.  I have heard people complain about how dirty the ammo is, even with shooting smaller amounts.  Granted, if I would have shot all that I took with me, it would have been worse.

I did shoot my step-dad's M1 Carbine.  I have never shot one before.  I was surprised at how it kicked.  I was expecting more of a punch from it, but it wasn't too bad.  I guess it could be that I was shooting the 12 gauge prior to it, so it may have "prepped" me for it.  He had both a 20 round and a 30 round magazine with him (I think it was a 20).  The 30 round kept having a lot of failure to feed.

He also brought his 2" snub-nosed .357 with him.  I have shot many guns in my life, but that little thing had too much kick for how small it is.  For me, it is a little harder to control (I still hit my target though).  I have gout in my hands, so that probably didn't help.  I shoot/carry a Sig P245, and I have no problem controlling the .45 ACP.  I guess because of the weight of the gun also.

We had several other firearms with us out there, such as his Ithaca 20 gauge, Remington 12 gauge (his 1200 in addition to my 870), and my daughter's Savage .22LR that I was sighting in the red-dot that I put on for her.  I didn't get around to shooting my P245, but I was there more to break in my 870 and the AR15.

Sorry we didn't get any pictures to post, but I will do better next time.
