Which Colt was it? if it was the 6920, I'd say you made the biggest mistake ever.

Yep. I would have done the same thing. But your post is going to bring out the worst in most people in ref. to the colt vs. bushmaster debate. |

Since people are currently paying upwards of $2,000 for a 6920 right now I'd say you made a mistake if you ever plan to sell it (and the Colt being offered was an LE6920).
However, if your Bushy is a shooter rather than a collector then it's your own personal preference. Personally I would have opted for the lifetime warranty, M4 feedramps, RAS marked upper, H buffer, proper carbine height FSB, milspec barrel extension, and the assurance that your barrel and bolt was properly magnufluxed and proof load fired per the milspec of the Colt. But hey, that's just my own jaded personal preference  People like Fords, Chevys, and Toyotas. For evey Colt advantage I can list someone could do the same thing with Bushy. If you are happy with your rifle then everything else is secondary. Edited to add: An LE6921? Who is the dealer? |

Buy the Colt, resell it to the imbeciles paying the hideously inflated prices, then use the profit to get yourself a free, or almost free Bushie!!

What's the deal with the barrel extension? I remember a thread where someone claimed Bushy used the wrong type of steel but that was refuted conclusively. Is there something else? |

Bushie uses the same steel (4150) that Colt does, not that anyone is really able to see a difference....
Colt uses the M4 feedramps, which really doesn't seem to be a huge issue for most people. |

You should have bought them both, the Colt to re-sell then the Bush for personal use. Make a couple of bucks.

If you can get a Colt LE rifle (small pins), do it. Otherwise, go with another brand.

I was just wondering about that last night. I read here that colt has larger pins and all other uppers out there would need an adapter. So I took the BM upper and SNAP, it went on my Colt lower like as if it belonged there. So ... now I understand why ... the LE models has standard sized pins! |

All new Colts have standard takedown pins, not just the LE models-so any brand of upper will fit. I run RRA uppers on my Colt lowers all the time. They still use .170 fire control pins, which will only become an issue if you want to upgrade to an aftermarket trigger that doesn't offer the larger size.

Or of course if you shoot enough to need replacent parts.... Which is why people should always have extra parts on hand, no matter what the make of their weapon.

Roger that, but even Bushmaster sells .170 FCG parts-so availability certainly isn't an issue. For less than the price of a case of Wolf you can have complete FCGs in both sizes Or, for a little bit more you can be ready for anything:  |

Yea, Sppoge is right tho get a LE6921 you have to have a class III license. An average Joe can't just walk in to a dealer and buy a 6921.

The only Class III license the ATF issues is the one you get to be a dealer.
You will need a tax stamp to take home a 6921 that you buy from a class III dealer. If the dealer in question is not a Special (Occupational) Taxpayer (i.e. a class II dealer), then I would suggest he send the 6921 he has back to Colt just as soon as UPS can get it there! |
