I have been looking at ordering a Faxon Gunner barrel and found their 14.5 inch barrels with pinned flash hider, has anyone run one  of these with a 15 inch rail? does all the flash hider extend enough from the handguard to prevent issues?

I've not done that, but it seems to me that if you are pinning a flash hider to a 14.5" barrel in order to make it 16" OAL, would mean the flash hider sticks out one inch using a 15" hand guard. SLR has some videos at their website that illustrates how different barrel lengths work with various length hand guards.

That's my thinking, but I was worried about the hot gases and blast being that close to the handguard if it would cause any issues.

Just my opinion but you would want to put a hand stop short of the end to keep from catching blast/heat.  With that said what's the point of taking the hand guard out that far....other than if you like the look over function that much.

Yes, I planned on using a handstop. And I really like the look, most of my rifles are carbine handguards with fsp. Just wanting to try something different on this build. And I'm not for sure going with the 14.5, my original plan was a 16 inch gunner but I seen the pinned barrels and got curious.

You need a muzzle device that sends the gasses and blast forward. The gasses will damage and eventually destroy the handguard.

That was my concern, I thought it would be to close but wanted to make sure.

13" is good for 14.5 bbl

I took a Matrix Arms 15" Foxtrot handguard and chopped about an inch off with a cutoff saw to fit on a 14.5" Faxon gunner with pinned comp.  I sprayed the fresh cut with rattle can and you can see exactly where the gasses contact it.  It blew the paint off within the first few rounds.  After that no more paint has come off. I don't have any problems with hot gasses on my hand and my support hand is at the end of the handguard.  I love this gun, it's perfect for bay style matches.

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. Looks like I will save some money and just get the 16 inch gunner.

Here is my 14.5 with an SLR Synergy Mini Comp which adds 1.6 to the barrel length making OAL 16.1"

That's a 13.7" SLR Solo Lite hand guard.

In most case, whatever the length of the barrel you will need a handguard 3/4in shorter to end right where the threads start on the barrel (closest to the shoulder, not end of barrel).  You would want a 13.7in rail on a 14.5in barrel.  Look at SLR's website.  They have lots of pics showing rail lengths vs barrel lengths.
