I have heard that AK varients built on Hesse recievers OR built by Hesse are no good. Shoty welds rather than rivets, poor finish, and prone to crack or failure. Is this true or was this just a few bad cases with an early run or somthing? I am looking at a few RPKs right now, one of them built on a 7.62 Hesse reciever. Price seems reasonable, but are is it a safe bet with a Hesse heart? Anyone on here own/fire any of them?

Forgtot to note, I did a board search over the last 30 days on "Hesse" and didnt come up with any results. If I should be looking for "Hess", my mistake!

One of the moderators here had a Hesse receiver on an RPK I believe and it was so twisted it would not function.

If the weapon was built by Hesse, then it's crap. If the only thing on the weapon is a Hesse receiver, and the weapon was not built by Hesse, then it might just be ok. Check it over real good, especially the rivets, and for cant, and for parts fitting together properly. Test fire if possible, 2-3 mags worth.

No, they didn't.  They're made by completely different people.

I was talking to a guy at a local gunshop about this (Barcus and Sons, Norwalk, Ohio) and he said he knew the people who made/sold vulcan personally and they weren't to be confused with Hesse.

I could be wrong, and I suppose he could be lying, but that's what I've heard.  Feel free to give 'em a call and ask about it.
