In general Hesse/Vulcan products are crap, however thier AK recievers were decent. Even CampyBob built several rifles on thier recievers.

If you are looking at  a complete rifle make sure that it is a kit build, built up by someone who knew what they were doing. If it is a Hesse/Vulcan built rifle consider it junk. If you have stumbled upon an old reciever then it should be OK to use, I seem to recal them needing to be heat treated around the pin holes though.

Bob Hesse lost his co thru suits over making crap. His AK stamping dies are fine but the QC is poor, even in some of the Vulcan versions. The die was last seen making Eubanks.

I built a couple of rifles on Hesse receivers and they worked just fine IMO.

I've seen some of their builds and I wasn't impressed.

Legally they were probably different companies, but the same people were running the show. Vulcan=Hesse. Robert Hesse was the leader of the circus. This tactic has been used in this business before, they earn a piss poor reputation so bad that even newcomers to the industry know they are useless, then they change thier name and can ripoff neophytes again for a while.

As I stated before, they built a decent AK reciever, they built shit AK rifles (and pretty much everything else they built as well). The tooling used to make the Vulcan/Hesse recievers has been sold to Ewbanks, which is not JoeKen, but is owned and operated by the same people who own and operate JoeKen.

These recievers are a good product, it is too bad that the tooling to make them seems to be cursed and doomed to be forever owned by shady characters.
