Was over at my dads tonight... I was on 10m (because with a tech that is what I have to deal with) was on at approximately 20:00 est and talked to Portugal and Curacao island. Not too shabby for a band far above the MUF.

Correct, but it is much more fun using my own license. Besides I need the motivation to get my general and extra. |

There have been several times I have heard DX stations on 10 meters when the other bands have been really bad, but usually as fast as they are there they are gone again. I just picked up a broken 10 meter radio cheap and fixed it so I am itching to make a 10 meter contact. Congrats on some nice 10 meter DX! |

Thanks, the irony of the whole thing is that my dad said he was trying to work Curacao island on 20 the other night and had to contend with a huge pileup. I only had to attempt to contact one time and I was through. I guess that is one of the advantages of 10m. Everyone wants to get the big fish on other bands. |

Since you are to the east of me I may not be picking you up since my dipole is facing north west |

I was able to pickup a beacon from Ocala FL and give the owner a report, and heard a couple of breif QSO's but then it faded out. By the time I got home there was a bunch of activity on 20 then it was like someone hit the switch and shut it off. |

It seems like someone flipped a switch on 20 meters.
I was hearing CA loud for about an hour. Called my Dad on the phone and we coordinated frequencies. We made our first QSO with each other as the band was fading. It was nice talking to him on the radio ETA: 40 and 80 were way noisy here as well. |
